~~~RCC Speed Shootout!~~~
Ooh, an extension? Cool! That'll give me time to (1) buy a star, (2) start on my project, (3) save enough money to finish said project!
Question though. What if my entry falls in between classes? Will it simply be bumped into the higher class even though it may not meet the min requirements for that class?
Probably. Wouldn't be fair to the lower class if you weren't in spec.
Personally, I'm just going to keep working on my car without any real direction to any class at this point. Just going to let it fall into whatever group it fits.
Cool, I think I'll follow suit and just build till it's done.
How bout a dirt class? Fastest on dirt instead of pavement!
I was thinking of a Shootout Triathalon. Land, sea, and air all with the same vehicle. THAT would be interesting...
I think it'd be wicked to have a duathlon: one high speed run, plus some sort of standardized rock crawl run. This would show that the rig really is a rock crawler at heart, not just a hybrid 4x4 made to go fast and nothing else. Unfortunately, there's really no way to "standardize" this unless maybe the driver simply submitted video "proving" the rig can actually crawl, too. :mrgreen:
Humm. I will be getting a star, but even if I have not been registered since April of this year, may I compete? I got an old eletric 4-tec that needs some love. Sportsman looks like thats the class for me. 9X2, zapped 6 cell pack, and tall gearing would be in my price range.
Found a pic of it...
bringing this back from the dead, maybe its time to start thinking about a deadline for this. not anytime soon, mabey have a may or june deadline to ensure good weather for everyone. just a thought, might get this competition fired up again
I am in, but we have to have a width limit on the crawler class. Otherwise, the most motor wins, which may actually help me:mrgreen:
But at 11in wide, I can only hold 30 for a split second before it rolls:shock:
If no limit, then 15in wide baby, so I can hang on to it!!
That top speed chart is awesome!!!!
Its tougher than you think to get over 50mph with a 4wd crawler. Figuring a hopeful drag coefficient of .75. The drag coefficient is the largest factor, so anyone calculating it, you better be honest about it, or you will be fooling yourself.
My current TT/crawler motor esc has the potiential of 52mph in 5seconds. I don't think running longer than 5 full seconds is dooable.
Pretty cool stuff!!
