RC4WD Lightened Gear Set for Enroute Berg Axle

And they finally got here! They are sick looking. Having them pre drilled is huge!! There is room for die hard " 3lb range" guys to remove more material. I'm very happy with where they are right now. They will be in by the weekend.

I also ordered a set to replace the gears that were pillaged for my DLux axles. I didn't weigh them and could really care less. But for the price of a complete set, it's such a great value. On top of that, I ran rc4wd gears in my XR forever and never had a single issue with them so I'd thi I these would be just as tough. Even more impressive was how smooth and well meshed they are. They were way smoother than the stock gears were when new, and I'd dare say they were smoother than the stock gears after break in. Good job rc4wd

I just ordered a set. I was VERY happy with the XR10 gears that they produced. Can't wait to get a set of these in my berg. :D

Guess this means I will have to pull the trigger on some dlux axles soon too. haha The lightweight bug has got me big time.

Just installed the set that I ordered. Like TSK said, they run much smoother then new stock gears ever have for me. I plan to run these out of the package for now. Their first run will be this saturday.

Overall impressions are that the finish and machine quality is very nice. The fit is good as well. The only hiccup I had was that the locker slot on the short side had to be deepened about .062". I think that this may have to do with the short 300 being way longer than necessary. I took some pictures to show this. I also weighed them to show the difference in weights.

Out with the old.

Weights. Old w/grease 58g, new ungreased 52g.

300 length difference.
Short side sticks through quite a bit.

Long side doesn't stick through at all.

Here you can barely make out how much the tang held the locker from seating in the bearing.

And installed.

How many packs did you have through on those stock gears? It looks like that grease really sticks! What type is it?

Not too many. Maybe two, that's why everything is so clean. My truck had just went scuba diving in the local creek where we crawl a couple weeks ago. But yes, it does really stick! When I took it apart to assess the water damage it looked very similar only dark blue/black from contaminants.

Looks like Vp grease"thumbsup"

Yep, Vp grease it is. "thumbsup"

Just got the rear installed. Real impressed with fit. The locker took my super bully shafts pretty well. No grinding. Just a tap on the work bench. Once the front is in I'll run a couple packs to see how they sound. My experience has been that the stock gears are noisy.

Ordered mine on the 8th and they got here today. Fit great, and they are very quiet in comparison to my stock gears.

Got 2 packs thru the front tonight and so far so good. Another great product from RC4wd!! :D

Update on my gears. Been running them since last month and very happy with them. With stock gears I couldn't seem to make it thru more than a couple packs before destroying small 3rds in the front end. I finally got an SDS 3rd and was happy for a while.

Pull all of that and have been running the RC4wd gears since. Probably 50 pack thru them and they are holding up great. I've really abused the hell out of my rig and intentionally pushed it beyond what I thought was "reasonable" in a lot of situations just to see. Pulled them apart last week to clean/inspect and everything looks great still.
