i had one of those guys in my house but he was about 4" around if you count his legsI had this little guy come popping up from a defroster vent one day while driving. Found a spot to pull over and set him free.
Spiders are rad.
Absolutely agree. I can't pinpoint why, but they are fascinating to me. However, I HATE the feeling of things crawling on me.
There's no way I'm picking one up and giving it a handshake

Most are very docile so long as they don't feel agitated or threatened.
lol and easier to handle when dead ^^^
Most are very docile so long as they don't feel agitated or threatened. Like most animals and women... you just have to read their demeanor and not come across as aggressive. The only spiders that I don't care to handle are smaller ones that move quickly as they can get lost under your clothing in the blink of an eye. In terms of where I live, I won't handle black widows or brown recluse... I just don't care for em. Here in Texas, the larger tarantulas, wolfies, jumpers, orb weavers, banana spiders... climb aboard.
I'd much rather handle or feel on me almost any spider as opposed to a f#@%!ng cockroach... ugh!
I get that. The problem is me feeling agitated or threatened when something's crawling on me.
It's not quite a feeling of fear, more like discomfort or disgust. Might have something to do with my brother being bitten by a spider when we were kids, never did find out what it was, but it destroyed ~6" circle of skin on his leg. Or maybe being stung in the ear, and on the edge of one of my nostrils by wasps, two separate occasions, when I was a kid.
I'm can't really say I'm afraid of "creepy crawlies" but I didn't have the most pleasant experiences with them growing up either.

We're on the same wavelength - I lived in Indonesia for a couple years as a kid, and that gave me a phobia for cockroaches - and for some reason, brown crickets are grouped in there with them in my head.
On the other hand, I found a tarantula in my friggin' ARMPIT while shovelin' topsoil one day and once I got over the shock of discovery it was fine. Likewise, a buddy had those huge African black scorpions and I held them in my hand.
Weird...
I definitely get that. I'm that way too if I don't know what 's going on lol. Even a random hair or something tickling me puts me on edge until I figure out what it is. And for sure a lot of insects have that 'creepy crawly' vibe that can be pretty unsettling. I still cringe if I walk into a web or have to reach my hand somewhere that I can't see and that's potentially occupied by an insect, rodent, reptile, or amphibian. Being able to put eyes on a little critter makes them easier to be around for sure. Once they disappear, the anxiety can definitely become elevated... for me anyway.
I mean, it wasn't dead, but okay.
The way that a spider articulates it's appendages is a key indicator of it's health. If it wasn't dead then it was either close to being dead or it was relatively inactive in diapause mode. All good and cool to see someone else that appreciates spiders. "thumbsup"
