Rant Thread

My RC related rant: Hobby companies not knowing there's a difference between mini servos and micro servos. Having to look at the physical size specifications of every servo because they either list them as "micro/mini" or list micro servos as mini servos is a pain.

If anyone knows where I can get a mini servo (not a micro lol) that's digital, preferably HV but that's not essential and doesn't cost a fortune (less than $25 each hopefully) let me know! They're for diff locking and 2 speed so don't need to be huge power.

Is it too soon, too late, or just right to start bitching about gas prices?

When I filled up yesterday, and a half tank ran me $90, I noticed the pay placard had been changed to say, "CASH, CREDIT, LEFT TESTICLE"...

What gets me is that as the prices go up, the pump limit doesn't. I was filling up my van last week and the pump shut off at $85. I tried to run my card again and the pump said "see cashier" so I went inside and they declined my card, odd considering I just came from the bank and knew I had at least 4 figures in there. I used my other card and it clicked off at $85. You guessed it, still not full. It wouldn't let me run that card a 2nd time either. Turns out that my bank froze my cards due to "suspicious activity" (I'll have to agree that going from <$2/gal last year to >$5/gal this year is indeed "suspicious"... remember when the price of crude was below zero for a minute there?) which required 1/2hr on the phone to get them released. I generally carry enough cash for moments like that, but I'm glad I wasn't in a big hurry or on a road trip. I think it was $5.40/gal at that time, but I've passed stations that were over $6/gal since then. I remember when race fuel was cheaper than that (though my last 5 gallon pail of VP C12 was over $140!)

Pump limits are really annoying. To fill up our 3 mowers and x2 5 gallon gas cans we max the pump at $125. To fill the Cummins up it’s nearly $200 lol. F150 takes almost as much.

Probably due to the fact that when gas prices dramatically rise, so do pirated/stolen credit card purchases at the pump. The crooks are no longer going to Bed, Bath and Beyond to by $20 give cards to resell, they use the fraudulent cards to fill up other peoples tanks. Swipe at the pump means you're less likely to be declined in front of close cameras and attendants that can identify you.

I know the frustration. Our pickup we use to tow the camper has a 48 gallon tank. :-o

To give them a little credit. I don't know the difference between mini and micro either.

That being said, I'm not responsible for providing customers with an accurate description of my product they're looking to buy.

Where I live we've had $5/gallon gas for quite some time its just normal, not saying it hasn't gone up even more in the past weeks and that I enjoy it or something.

Anyway I find it funny and mildly annoying to hear folks bitching about their increased gas prices that in normal times is our typical price.

SLN might get a kick out of this but gas prices are on par with Hawaii but we're on the mainland

For the past two years we’ve been here, it’s always been around $4.50-$4.75/gal. It’s only went up about .50/gal. Some gas stations here are at nearly $6, but for the most part it’s around $5-$5.20. I went back to Indiana in December and seeing $4 gas there was kind of shocking. I’m used to seeing $3 max there(2 years ago, obviously)
I’ve seen news articles saying northern Oregon was at $6.70.

Thank god we just bought a diesel truck! Diesel is about .10/gal more, but in our other work truck (2014 F150) we get average 5-7mpg but in the diesel (2006 Cummins) we average about 14-18mpg.

Grew up in your neck of the woods, and my sister Cindi still lives there. Weekly she is posting pictures on gas prices. I told her that she needs to start investing in bicycles.

I lived on Oahu for five years, gas prices were always insanely high. The nice thing was that you didn't have to drive very far. But, if it was rush hour(s), you burn more gas sitting in traffic than you would actually getting to where you were trying to go.

Seeing a whole rash of people selling used RCs on FB and Craig's for flat out stupid prices. Not to scare anyone away from our hobby... But, people should have to sign a letter of acknowledgement making sure they know they will not be able to sell their used RC for its retail price, or for a profit; not matter how many Integy or RPM "upgrades" they throw on it. And, for the love of Butterfingers and ZigZags, if you are asking $650 for a RTR TRX4 with a HW1080, Novak motor, and stock radio, at least clean the damn thing up so that it does not look like you drove it under cows two hours after feeding...

Turn signals, why have they become so difficult for folks to operate? Is it such a burden to flip that little plastic stick 2” from your left hand… I mean seriously! Please people make it a point to use your dang turn signals!!!! While I’m at it… please stop looking at your phones when your driving… it can wait! Pretend its 1990 again and try enjoying your drive in real time.

My Datsun turn signal stock use to turn on my high beams, but I still used my turn signals. Heck, it probably made it more effective :)
