Rant Thread

For me, nope. For some reason, something about the combination of tomatoes (any form) and eggs is just off putting. I like eggs, I love salsa, but the two shalt not meet on my plate!!!

Its like cole slaw with raisins. I love me some slaw with an unhealthy amount of malt vinegar, I really like raisins, but putting them in the same dish is disgusting!!!

I can definitely see that. Eggs are one of those foods that have such a distinctive taste on their own... that what you pair them with really has a make it or break it effect. Scrambled eggs, buttered toast, and bacon will always be my favorite style.

EDIT> Jesus... raisins in coleslaw? That sounds absolutely awful lol.

Only when in a breakfast burrito!!

Funny that you say that. That's where my fondness of salsa and eggs started. I never even liked salsa on my breakfast burritos for a long time but eventually I started putting a little [fantastic fresh homemade] salsa on them from a certain little Mexican restaurant so that's why I now still like salsa with eggs from time to time.

I rarely use ketchup for much these days. I'll use it as a base for cocktail sauce or a BBQ mop sauce, but that is about it. I feel a good BBQ sauce does everything ketchup does, but better.

^^^This x1,000,000. Ketchup has no business being near eggs in any form. :flipoff:

While I agree in principal, in my world there's exceptions to that rule. The Sausage & Egg McMuffin needs ketchup. Without it, the sandwich is marginal at best but add just a little ketchup and bam, mouth party for breakfast..

Salsa on eggs is delicious.

Couldn't agree more, it's a perfect union!

And to me, cole slaw isn't complete unless it's got raisins. I like their sweetness working against the tart vinegar..

That's a very valid point. I hadn't thought of that, but you're dead right. I think I'm gonna start substituting some Sweet Baby Ray's for ketchup wherever I can..

Your mention of the mop suddenly made me remember how much I loved the BBQ in North Carolina when I got to work there for a few weeks. We held a big grand opening for our factory in Salisbury and had it catered by a guy/family with a BBQ trailer,. Me being a relative sheltered Canadian had no idea such a rig existed, I was more than a little impressed by their dedication to the craft - they'd been smoking and grilling for at least a couple days to prep for this event. I'll never forget this, we had a customer from Kentucky come for the BBQ and when he realized that the Q-Master had brought out BOTH the ketchup based and the vinegar based sauces he actually teared up a little as he explained to me what tremendous sign of respect it was for the caterers to offer us both sauces..

I absolutely love the curry ketchup sold in Germany - typically used with currywurst, but IMHO way better than regular ketchup on nearly anything.

Also, dumping salsa over a full skillet of over easy eggs (say, half-a-dozen?) is a rare breakfast treat I prepare for myself every so often.

Can't have it all the time - getting too old for all that cholesterol!

And I sometimes get a good peach or mango salsa to change things up a bit...

Take a humble microwaved hotdog. Put a good cheddar cheese in the bun, then the dog. Then add a nice smokey BBQ sauce, some horseradish mustard and some diced onion or jalapenos (or both). Talk about a "mouth party".

Back to rants with ketchup or other condiments...

When you forget to shake them and all that separated water comes out first. That grosses me out for some reason...

What's worse is when you do shake them up, and you still get that. That is seriously a WTF moment. Where was that shit hiding when the rest of the fluid in that bottle was being mixed?

It Doesn't get any better than bacon, eggs and toast lol. Especially bacon in the oven(although it's still better stove top)

I never used to like salsa and eggs, but they only pair in a burrito, nothing else. Something is just off when it's not in a tortilla.

I prefer salsa fresca (aka pico de gallo) to jarred salsa. Jarred salsa is too watery and messy for my tastes.

I like the pico style you get in mexican restaurants, pureed like. Don't like the chunks. But I usually skip it and go straight for sliced japs, pickled or raw I don't care. Grilled if you can.

I grow my own red hots, habaneros, jalapenos, and tabascos. I pickle them in a homemade brine (just sea salt and vinegar). I use the brine for sauce/marinade and eat the peppers. My tabascos this year were absolute fire. I like hot and they were ridiculous.

Ah... I can see that. I think it's the texture that I'm having a problem with lol. But yep... I can understand how the two tastes pair well together.

Here in Texas, BBQ in all of it's forms.. state-wide competitions, fiercely passionate pit-masters with their elaborate high-dollar mobile smokers, highly guarded family BBQ and brisket recipes spanning generations, etc, etc.. is like a religion. It's truly crazy here in the lone star state.

Yeah... the tortilla along with the egg, salsa, cheese, bacon or sausage is a great combination of flavors for sure.

I prefer salsa fresca (aka pico de gallo) to jarred salsa. Jarred salsa is too watery and messy for my tastes.

Now that you mention it, the Mexican restaurant where I first tried it I believe was actually a pico.. very thick, spicy, flavorful. I know that they made it fresh every morning along with the guacamole that they made throughout the day... never old/ never refrigerated.

Ahhh, I too love me some Currywurst ketchup, but only when in Germany.

Salsa on eggs is delicious, especially when your girlfriend makes the salsa fresh!!

Ketchup with mayo "pink sauce" is usually served with most dipping foods for the lil ones.

Ketchup on spaghetti was my favorite as a kid

Hot dog with raw onion, Ketchup and Mustard good hmmkay.

Hot dog with pineapple, crushed chips and pink sauce, food too!

On a side note:

I thought imho that Pat's was better than Geno's!

Why, for the love of puppies and large-breasted women, do stupid people get rewarded?

Man how stupid do you have to be, and to get free removal!! Just cause the label doesn’t say "do not apply to hair" doesn’t mean it’s safe to do so. The world should just leave her that way as a cautionary tale.

I can’t believe she goes on to warn anyone else not to substitute gorilla glue for hairs styling products.

Gamer Rant.

Why do young people watch a YouTube content creators playing popular games then run off, and play the exact same game. My baby brother does this, and it angers me a bit, it’s like ruining a movie by asking someone else to describe it to you before watching.

I also can’t stand watching streamers play games for subs, I’ll never send you a dollar for something I can do myself. Streamers should get real jobs, and stream that content, and maybe I’ll see you struggling, and sent you a buck.

I started with an Atari 2600 (yes, new), went to a Commodore C-128, then to an Amiga 500, downgraded to a 486 DX2/50 (math coprocessor baby!!!!), and on through various computer and gaming system. So, you could say that I am a gamer from way back, and still playing today. Through all of that time, I have never understood how people could spend hours watching other people play, and how YouTube channels that just show people playing can be so popular really boggles my mind.

I have done some research on games to get passed a particular part I am stuck on, but just to sit and watch, nope.

The new warning label will soon be stating: DO NOT APPLY TO HAIR. Watch, give it a few weeks until new shipments arrive in stores.

I usually Google a tough spot in a game and can find the solution/tips...but my usual strategy is to play a game all the way through (on default difficulty) and then play it again (on the next level up if I think it won't be too much of a grind) but for that round I follow a Wiki/walk through as I play. I like to see how many things I missed the first time through or what plot twists I could have affected (I like more open world style) had I not been trying to just survive it. I can usually finish a game in round 2 with the walk through having a maxed character. I don't like the walk through for round 1 because it feels like cheating and I like to focus on game mechanics more than plot. I have never watched a YouTube video about a game. My favorite 2 games of all times are Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (best RPG ever IMO) and Skyrim (have never seen it all, it's really huge). I may buy Skyrim again and start over, it is such an immersive game.
