Obviously you can't comprehend what you've read...and focus bc there are 2RC's being discussed...and neither weighs 9lbs....5.5lbs...in your head you live in Txdont know what to tell ya then, people have tried to help you but you refuse to consider the advice, you already have your mind made up so why bother asking here? you get 7 min run time on a 2s lipo....and you think WE dont understand the issue? My go fast rigs all get 30+ minutes of run time because I matched the components to work well together. 9lbs aint all that heavy...maybe if you put it on a diet the run time would increase..
so your motor wants more amps than your esc can give it? You wonder where part of the problem is?
I am out, good luck....nope not from texas.... obviously you cant read my location under my avatar...
I run the 2s 65c in the AE... once again...with a 12th pinion on tarmac(pavement)OK - I am gathering from other threads and links - as to what is the starting point here.... not sure what version of the model was starting point so I am using this as an example to provide weight and factory-recommended brushless setup/gearing:
AE Pro SC 4x4 - if bought as a RTR Brushless LiPo it weighs 5.78lbs, and it would come with a Reedy 550-SL 3500kV 4-pole brushless motor and a (yuck) Reedy 30C 2S LiPo 3300mah.
Factory spur is 47t 32p, available pinions run from 11t to 15t. Don't see other spur choices on the AE site - RTR LiPo version comes with a 14t pinion.
RTR Manual states:
"If using a 3S LiPo battery, you must use a smaller pinion gear
(use part #91164 13T Pinion). This will give you the correct gear
ratio for the extra power the 3S LiPo
battery will deliver."
It has less ground clearance than a Slash 4WD - so runtime and heat will be horrible in grass - made to be run on a groomed track (which is why the suggestions earlier were to got to a Short Course forum - the rally thread is for similar chassis, I suppose)
I'd run the 13t pinion and 3S and check slipper tightness - and stay away from grass for any extended amount of time. Your posts mention you have a 3S, not sure if you have a 13t pinion - but they are cheap as you know, check temps and runtimes again.
Increasing cell count on LiPo batteries of the same mah-rating will typically give a noticeable increase in runtime. Gearing will of course affect that as well.
I'd also find another 2S 5000mah to test - a new-ish one, maybe short runtime is indicating an old battery on it's last legs......
(P.S. - We're trying to help ya, man -- and I just noticed you have a problem with people in Texas? We are not all rednecks - I have lived here in Austin for 34 years, came here originally for college but before that I lived all over the place - Army brat. This includes Indonesia, Germany, the East Coast, Midwest, Detroit, California. WTF? I just spent a lot of time researching the AE site and the manuals for you - and as I'm about to post I notice the conversation is just getting uglier - therefore this EDIT - F*ck me, I guess)
The motor is rated at 75amps...i have a 60amp esc, pretty darn close...

I have an 11 but the motor mount doesn't stay in place...it's one of those rotating ones
My pinions cost about $15 with shipping. RRP

So you cut your plugs and added 6.5mm plugs run about 200amps on 3s through a 3800kv 540 in an 11lb RC that's not even supposed to be run in anything over 5.5-6lbs...with 56/15 gearing?your esc is undersized. i would go min 80A ESC and an matching C Rate Lipo.
But even better would be Volt up gear down.
BTW. i get more than 1 hour out of a 5800mAh 3s 65C - Yeti CC1410 3800 56/16, MMX and 11lbs - with approx 60% of the runtime 80-100% throttel (love the datalog :mrgreen![]()
you mentioned 9lbs first, not me...Obviously you can't comprehend what you've read...and focus bc there are 2RC's being discussed...and neither weighs 9lbs....5.5lbs...in your head you live in Tx

Why on earth would anyone epect a 36mm can to perform in an 1/8 scale the 1/8 is the gimic...it's the same size as the castle 2400kv; would you attempt it in a 9lb RC? I wouldn't

Actually i've stated...once again that since this is indeed a 1/10 scale motor with a 1/8 scale gimic of a spec that my "hypothesis" is that it will run more efficient with the esc...i've even stated...once again that the motor will be run on the same gearing and voltage as the 3s capable brushed motor that it is replacing...this is not a thread concerning max power output or max speed...overkill on the motor, with conservative gearing....Not maxing out the motorThe motor is rated at 75amps...i have a 60amp esc, pretty darn close...
You must be from Tx
so you come in here spouting off all these exact numbers on your quotes about all this crap and then YOU say that 60 amps is close enough for a motor than can and will draw 75 amps under heavy load????? and want to know where the problem is???? I got a clue for ya, its the behind your keyboard![]()
1s drag cars go 80mph! Whats your point or do you even know?Try 1s with a 2s receiver pack! Ultimate efficiency.
I get abot 7mins of runtime on a quality 2s 5000mah pack. I know there are "slightly" higher mah packs that will fit my RC, but from experience i know that it will only add about 2 or 3mins of extra runtime...
The motor is a 4p 3500kv gearing is 47/12 it is a 4x4 sc and there isn't a battery extension made for it. It weighs stock 5.5lbs.
My motor temps after a full pack are about 135-140* mid-day and about 85-93* for the esc...
Is the only option go with 2 super shorties in parallel? I can't remember the mah ratings of the last ones i saw...but i think it was around 4000mah.
Also will Lowering the C-rating increase run time; as it's not pushing all the amps/capacity out of the pack? The C-rating of my pack is 65c 120c burst...
I'm going to test my overkill motor theory...i have a 2150kv 6s capable 70mm 4p motor that should be arriving any day now. I don't plan on running it on 6s but with the gearing i was running a brushed 21t on and same cell battery should yeild great results...At least thats my hypothesis.
Thank you...Yeah, with the information given (mainly the temps), that run-time doesn't make sense. If your gearing was off or there was some sort of drag in the drive train (enough to cause that type of terrible run-time) you would see the motor and esc get much warmer. I would guess that you're either triggering the LVC, or your batteries are junk.
Do you think the packs I.R. could be the problem? It's a turnigy really reliabe pack so far but it is like 2yrs old...still charges up to at least 5000mah as speced... I'm switching brands to SMC though...i have two of there packs...ones older than the turnigy and puffed..i don't use it anymore the only one i use is the 3s and it's about a month old... Do you think maybe i should upgrade to an SMC charger also bc it has an I.R. meter in it?Yeah, with the information given (mainly the temps), that run-time doesn't make sense.
