Project YJ

small update

I think I have the tail lights where I want them. It would be silly to move them a third time anyway. :ror:

Well everything is all wired up and running. I ran the rig with out a body just to see how the gears acted and I was amazed. The ratio difference is perfect! The rig crawled very well.

I also picked up a 3racing wich from the 4sale section. I wired it all up properly, gave it 6.0 volts from my BEC, and I reeled it out a little using the controller first before I set my endpoints. I set the reel-out endpoint and everything is good. I set the reel-in endpoint and it started to reel in, but it seemed to be glitchy because it would stop and re-start. The winch didn't work anymore. I guess that sounds like the controller to me. ????? :x

Dude thats looking way cool, keep up the good work..."thumbsup"

Thanks Ken

looks good!

i think the winch requires 7 vlts..?
not 100% sure,i can tell when my batt is going dead when im using my winch, anything less than 7vlts it starts to slow way down.

From reading the forums here plenty of people are running them at 6.0 just to save the life of it. It worked fine at 6 volts... for about 2 minutes. I should have things worked out soon. A couple of my local buddies have spare parts.

found this..

"According to 3Racing if you hook your winch to 11.1V you will absolutely fry it. Go the CC BEC route and set it's voltage to 7.2V. Mine is wired from the ESC power plug to the BEC Then I just cut the Plug from the CC Bec and wired the power supply leads to the wince to I believe Red and Brown on my Castle BEC. I hope this is helpful to you I also struggled with this. "

I can't have this many posts without pics so here is a snap shot I took of the wheelbase. I think I am happy with it. I may end up extending the rear just a hair. I am loving the look of the 42" tires, but I hate the look of the 19" rims. I'm not really feeling the look of the RC4WD 15.5" stompers or slingers, so I guess I will wait for more options to come out.

it's been sitting so long that there is hardly any air in the tires

Pa! That means, get your ass in gear Ashton!

I am trying.. but playing with the 4pk has been taking up alot of my time

looking good
thanks!

Coming along nicely, Ashton. So now your running 36/14 in the front and 43/13 in the rear?

Thanks, Greg!

Yes sir. It takes some getting used to at first. The first thing that I noticed was you don't have the normal punch from the rear so you can't hop over obstacles in the same manner as you did before. The break-over ability and new steering radius are insane, though.

Well a few days later here they are and I couldn't be happier with the turnout! The size is perfect for what I was looking for with them being just a hair taller but more narrow than the Flat Iron. In the pics the Hogs are without foam and they support the rtr YJ very well. The beadlocks are form RC4WD. I'll have some goodies for those coming up soon
