well there we have it... a custom build header.
now maybe i can get the attention that all the other builders get with a cool build header. :lmao:
i'm not 100% complete with my Rock Cop build, but isn't it the norm to not finish one project before starting another ???

project inspired by the great " ruBACON " build at Pirate4x4.com
ruBACON @ pirate

basically i'm taking the name and the fact that it's a TJ one 1 tons, with leafs from a XJ in the rear. leafs on a TJ ???
has been done before, no ?
i'm hoping to get a better cage inside than the OG build has.

parts to include:
newbright TJ rockcrawler fully comp cut
tamiya YJ hard top
custom tubework and armor from Crunky
based off the popular axial SCX-10 chassis
wheelbase stretched to 11" ( 110" scale )
axial axles
RC4WD tranny
RC4WD 1.9 rok lox
RC4WD shocks
hardware from RC Skrewz
brushless motor and esc from hobbywing
radio gear is traxxas TQ4
3 racing winch

this should be a fun build... i have become attracted to these TJ builds, and after seeing Eddievedder's comeback TJ i decided i had to have a TJ project of my own.

hopefully i can pull this off, and make the scaler gods proud.
if not at least i started my build thread off wicked cool.

well this build isn't getting off to the start i had hoped... i got a little surprise visit. i said i wanted to build a poison spyder style scaler eh ?
1fcswp.jpg

thankfully it's clearing fast.
i figured i would at least throw up some conversation at least.
after taking a look at these tires i am wondering if i made the right choice.
2aj4abk.jpg

seems these might be a bit too big on this rig.
vgndy0.jpg

that's quite ok, i think it might end up running something else along the way.
29x1ub.jpg

now lets take a look at the project we are taking over. you know i like to restore these rigs, and i had been wanting a jeep more and more...
qqzo6h.jpg

paint is a little torn up.

2utq5ud.jpg

trust me it's really not the bad.
f9l06h.jpg

a little plate, a little tubework, we will be good to go.
besides we wanted that comp cut look, and extended wheelbase.
zvbn6w.jpg

this thing already has soul...
2q9codh.jpg

... and with a little love, it will be a great little ride.

something they can try and out run the rock cop with...

something to take take deep into the woods and high on top of that nice hill... under the stars.

" meep meep itsha er funkin' jeep... "

... to be continued.
:lol::afro:"thumbsup"

thanks all for the support and compliments.

i guess i forgot to mention it wasn't a spider that bit me... that's an itchy case of poison ivy. nothing a few days out of work, and a hefty dose of prednisone can't fix right ?
:lmao:

I live in Alberta - I wouldn't recognize a spider bite. Or a rat bite, or a snake bite, or the bite of a homeless person. Too cold for all them things. All I know is that it wasn't a bite from a Newfoundlander, though the recent local infestation of those seems to have been resolved for now.

still working on the body, no pics as of yet.

i was having a hard time finding what glue i had to work well with the plastic that the new bright body is made of. i gave up for a while, and even purchased a body that i thought was going to be a better body to work with.
turns out the body i got is almost too nice to cut up, so i am still picking away at the original build's body.

the paint that was used on the body had a reaction, and distorted the body. i have heated the body up and mashed it back flat.

i also picked up a set of rc4wd 1.9 stompers that i have plans on running on a sander for a bit. i had a set of these tires on my crunko before and they sucked ash. then i saw guido and bigbird with them sanded and fell in love with the look.

either way, the rok lox are out.
too big.

not much of an update here.

i didn't have much luck trading the lox off for some TSL's.
so i grabbed me 1.9 rock stompers, and my grinder...

I don't know what your money stance is, and also wanting to ask if the second pair of tires are the 1.9 rockstompers? but if you look up bigbird you can see how he changed his tires to be more scale, and seeing the tire measurement of rubacon on pirate4x4 and it's a 39.5" tire on 16" rims, well you could get one of the three 1.9 tires(dick cepek, tomahawk, and mud thrashers) and just do what bigbird did and get them to a 1.5, then you would have the tires really dang close to being scale? just a thought

look on page 9 of his bigbird build to see what I mean
