Official MTB / Mountain Biking Chit Chat

Yep, I have Jagwire on both my single speeds, but like Nate not sure which version. I've ridden the 650b bike a lot and had zero issues with it.

Jagwire makes great cables as far as I'm concerned. I do have a hard time spending a lot of money on cables, though. I've never noticed a performance difference between fancy cables and the ones I use. I use the Jagwire LEX housing and slick stainless cables on both of my bikes and soon to be on the 3rd when it's finished. Cheap, durable, works. Hits all of my criteria when it comes to cables.

Alright, sweet :) I added a white Ripcord kit, and Speed Dial 7's to my eBay cart, so I'll get them soon since I can't use my bike for a couple more months. I still have free tune-ups until June, so I'll get the shop to install these on it while it's in there in the spring (only costs me like $25 or so). I also have a new chain to get put on, a Shimano CN-HG91. I might end up getting some new pads as well, not really liking the stock ones for the BB7's, however that might be because of the stretching in the cables and housings.

Out of all the many brake pads I have tried with the bb7 I have liked the stock ones the best.

Got the chameleon all set up to ride in the snow.

Changed the wheels from 650 to 26. Then put on some continental baron tires. Changed the cassette to a 36x12 instead of a 32x12.

All you fat guys got me thinking of a fat bike. What are the thoughts on a salsa bear grease aluminum?

Gotcha. I'm pretty sure that's what tedo bought, and he seems really happy with his. I personally would opt for the Mukluk with a bluto on the front, but thats due to my intended use for it.

I rode the fattie today actually, 40 degrees, clear blue skies and very little wind. Life is good "thumbsup"

Check this one out guys. Found this broken kuat rack at my wife's work. Whoever left it, backed into something then took the rack off and tossed it. It had been sitting there for a week before I asked about it and my wife's boss was going to take it to the dump the next day. Talk about right place at the right time. $50 in parts and its good as new.

As I had said in a previous post I'm doing a set of cranks over the winter, got the cranks and pedals in the mail the other day. I haven't ordered my gears or bash guard yet, this might sound stupid but I'm assuming I'll have to use raceface sprockets and bash?

Not necessarily, but you have to make sure the BCD (bolt circle diameter) of whatever you buy matches up to that of your cranks.

You still have to know the BCD no matter what, all RF cranks aren't the same BCD. For instance, my single speeds both run a 64/104 BCD, but my 29er does not.

Learnin' new stuff all the time haha, thanks! I know you guys are probably thinking "this guy should not be doing a set of cranks..." but I don't know much about my own bike and don't like it haha. I'd rather take the time and do it msyelf even if I have to work backwards once and a while.
