Nyx, Luckydevils new build

I've been having a blast this summer so time for a little update. I extended my front axle out about a centimeter so my wheelbase is about 12.6 inches. I made new sway bar arms.
I got the supershafty mod and traxxas slipper clutch. I was running no slippper but my MIP drive shafts wore out so bad so fast I thought maybe a slipper will help.
I also switched to the tekin rx8. I've turned a rc4wd shock in to a dampener for the steering. I switched to the 6" crawlerinnovation foams, soft in front and med in the rear, side walling is alot better.
I kept breaking the middle plastic housing on my hitec 7950, stripping the gears out once. So I came up with a slight modification. Not sure how well it'll last but time will tell.

Nyx is beaten up pretty good now, I think she's just too heavy for her own good. But she's a brute....12.6 lbs.
Here's some pic's of the servo mod and of her all beaten.

Next I'll post the servo mod.

OK,
You can see the broken middle housing.
DSC01465.jpg

I took an axial spacer which was the perfect diameter of the broken off piece and the perfect length.
DSC01466.jpg
I used the axial tranny motor spacer, axa1307, 7.5x6mm.
DSC01467.jpg
I drilled out the plastic with a 7/32 drill bit, alittle smaller than the spacer.
Filed it so the spacer will press in.

Then I took a 13/64 drill bit and drilled half the spacer out which does not give you much wall left on the spacer. (sorry no picture)

The other half of the spacer I drilled out with a 5/32 drill bit for the switch.

I filed a flat spot so the one gear will still turn.
DSC01473.3.jpg
Press the spacer in place...leaving 2mm to 2.5mm above the plastic.

Gorgeous! That exhaust is killer too.

Wow, missed all the compliments! Thanks everyone. Been busy getting ready to move to Maryland. Nyx is fun. I can't wait to get settled and hopefully get building some more. Been wanting to get a real torch to try some new ideas.
To all the Illinois guys I so sorry I never made it north! Especially Die-laughing for the sweet rims! But we have family here and I should be in the Chicago area from time to time and I'll bring my trucks. The past couple years have been crazy.
To the Maryland guys I may try to find ya, in fact I'll need a job once we get out there. We will be in the Rockville/Gaithersburg area.

Awesome fix and instructions with pics, thanks! "thumbsup" Nyx is badass too...just saw the build today!

Hey thanks! I'm still hoping someone else tries the mod to the servo. I'm really enjoying Nyx. She's stout. Still I wish someone could make shocks and springs that can handle the weight. But the sway bars sure help when I want some speed runs.
I'm in Maryland now. Real close to "The Track" and I think they are thinking about a crawler course. I think she wants help putting it together. Mimi the owner wants to put it outside. Anyway, guys in Maryland should investigate.
