After being out of RC for 6+ years, I dug my crawlers out of the attic, and learned that comp 2.2 moa is dead.... And having moved from Chicago to Nashville I learned that there is no crawling scene here. So it is time for this build. No Prep is growing here in Nashville!!

I planned to start with a Bandit slider, but this ended up being a from scratch build.

I bought an Xtreme Drag Chassis and built from there.

Parts:
- RPM Bandit Arms front/rear
- RPM Bandit front bulkhead
- RPM Bandit front/rear towers
- RPM Slash front/rear bearing carriers
- STRC aluminum front caster blocks
- STRC aluminum front main pin brace
- Traxxas turnbuckles f/r steering and camber
- Traxxas Ultra Long Shocks f/r
- Proline body mounts
- Proline 1969 Nova body
- HR aluminum steering bellcrank
- Proline Pamona Wheels f/r
- Jconcepts gold slicks f/r
- Aluminum hex f/r
- Mip drive shafts
- RPM transmission case
- HR 32P 58T SPUR
- HR locker
- Xtreme 10" wheelie bar
- Ti screws where possible
- Aluminum washers where possible
- HW XR8 SCT esc w/5100kv 4 pole motor
- 6000MAH 100C 2s short lipo
- xt90 connectors
- Ceramic wheel bearings
- misc other parts.... List keeps changing.

These pics are the start.

After getting this far I wanted her lower and more durable. So I have the following coming:

- Proline 32p full transmission
- Xtreme Slash Drag low profile cf towers
- 65mm Aluminum shocks - Short traxxas ultra shocks with aluminum bodies and caps.

I hope this group arrives early next week. There is a no prep event here on 9/12 that I want to try.

Wow..looots of $$$ in that thing. Looks very promising !!

The funny part of this is that I intended to build the one car from the list of parts. Between the purchase of:
- The unneeded Bandit slider
- The purchase of a VERY delayed (non-refundable) RCRI Drag Chassis (8 weeks out still)
- The build of the "Stock Trans" with 32p external gearing, locker, and RPM Case that is getting replaced by the Proline 32p model.
- The purchase of various extra turnbuckles
- The purchase of extra wheels and hexes
- The purchase of the CF low towers to replace the new RPM tall towers
- The purchase of 65mm shocks to replace the new Long Traxxas Ultra Shocks

And me sitting on some older but viable electronics.....

....I will have enough "spare" parts to do a 2nd build OR Sell a sweet slider with transmission to some lucky soul. Likely will sell once the RCRI chassis eventually gets here. Their site says "A Few Weeks" delay.....but on the FB pages for No Prep, people are reporting 8-10 weeks until they received their orders. So maybe in October I will be selling the built spare parts slider.

So many parts arrived today.... I can make some progress.

Today I swapped the RPM converted transmission with one of the new 32p Proline full transmissions. This thing is beefy. I feel better with the 32p, but if I want to later, I can toss a Proline 48p on there. Nice to have choices.

Then I swapped out the RPM full height towers with carbon fiber low towers from Xtreme RC. Great fit... Great craftsmanship!! They look pretty sweet as well.

With the shorter towers I needed 65mm shocks. I went with traxxas ultra shocks in SHORT. I am waiting for STRC aluminum shock bodies to get here, but that does not stop me from getting the plastics in there to test the fit and chassis height. My goal was to get the car under 1" of chassis clearance. It has no electronics in it... No battery... No motor. It is sitting at about 7/8". So far I am happy.

Usually I do not care much how my hardware looks or matches, but on this build I am making that effort.

Waiting for rear beadlock wheels and XTREME RC carbon fiber rings. Also waiting on shock bodies and 500k diff fluid. She keeps inching forward in terms of progress.

Is there an advantage to running 2s over something larger?

Car looks killer!

It is a class thing. Rules basically are:

- wheels tucked in body
- rwd
- f/r shocks
- 4.5 pounds
- 12" - 13" wheelbase
- 2 cell

It makes it all super competitive. Tune, suspension, weight distribution, ect become more important.

Made some progress.

- Shocks rebuilt with aluminum bodies.
- Traxxas Short UltraShocks
- STRC Threaded aluminum bodies
- STRC aluminum caps
- 30wt front / 80wt rear oil
- Red 4tec springs

Rear wheels are now:
- Proline Split Six Rear Beadlocks
- Xtreme RC carbon fiber lock rings
- Proline belted drag slicks

Rear arm replacement:
- Removed RPM arms
- Custom Works RC adjustable toe arms

Not a bad way to pass time during boring meetings.

The new Proline transmission is pretty sweet.
- Fewer Screws to hold the halves together.
- Most case screws are 2mm hex
- The rear wheelie bar mount is very sturdy
- The case plastics are more ridgid
- The bearings are substantially larger
- The build of the diff feels more solid. Also sealed

I went into the transmission to clean out the factory grease and filled with 500k "fluid". No pictures of that process as it was slightly messy. Did not want to handle the phone.

Below are pics of the screw layout, housing, and wheelie bar mounting.

Trying to keep it looking clean. Today was esc, motor, battery placement and wire runs.

The Hobbywing esc is large and takes up the majority of the electronics plate. The RX ultimately will sit behind the front tower.
