i'm a noob and i'm still lost and trying to wander my way around here

i'm into 24th scale mainly but have 16th/18th, and 10th scale RCs for a year now mainly scalers i'm coming from helis and planes !

does RCC have means to upload photos direct or just have to use a sharing site and link?

Welcome :)

I'm a relative newcomer myself too - only really started posting here in July 2012. Regarding pics, you'll need an image hosting site. I've been happily using ImageShack for many years with nary a problem; might be worth a look. If you sign up with them (its free) you'll also find it easier to post direct links to your pics in posts here. My personal recommendation anyway.

My Trekker has finally arrived, too. Build thread is begun. W00t!

Hi all not a newby to RC been in the hobby for 30+ years but new to 1/24 scale and micros . Learning fast that 1/10 scale ways don't necessarily transfer to small scale lol . Just bought a Losi Micro Trekker and love it but had to come up with a trick for fat fingers and extra small body clips . Posted on here and came up with Velcro trick . Thanks to all who helped

Hello!
So I got most of my build info from this site, completely reworked my trail trekker into this little rig. I soldered brass tube and rod and redid about everything. It crawls pretty well, a hell of a lot better than stock!
Mods are as listed:
-custom brass tube frame
-Denally mod on stock wheels
-Miclaw tires with 50 bb's in each
-bent lower links
-Hitec hs-65mg servo front (stripped out the hs-65mb)
-hitec hs-65mb back
-HR drag links
-HR transmission case
-Micro T springs front and back (blue and reds)
-Castle creations micro esc
-Hacked flysky FS-GT3B tx and 3 channel rx
-Zippy 2cell 350mah lipo (got a couple and a 180mah)
-100 turn predator motor
-1/2 oz. of extra weight upfront via sticky lead weights
This thing has been a blast to build! It weighs almost a pound now but has plenty of torque from the new motor. I've fit a bunch of body's on it too so it can run different set ups with varying degrees of difficulty (some bodies making it more top heavy etc) Thanks for all the info from this site! here's some pics

Hi everyone,

I'm Steve (a.k.a. b4d93r (badger)) from Colorado and glad I found this site! I officially took the dive on my recent birthday and got a Losi Micro 4x4 Trekker. Granted it's not anything spectacular like those sweet Axial rigs but that's soon to come.

I was pretty psyched when I first saw the crawlers as I used to race the old Losi XX years ago with some friends. Eventually the interest went dormant as I got older, married, had kids, developed my career aspirations, got divorced and moved back to my hometown with my kids. In other words, adult life stepped in.

When the crawlers started showing up, that interest peaked again. I wasn't into the racing anymore but the crawlers were right up my alley. I love off roading anyway but finances (and the wife) just didn't allow building my real life rig so these are the next best thing.

As I mentioned earlier, I got the Losi Micro 4x4 Trekker. Figured it was a good starter as I like the small size and easy storability. I also knew aftermarket parts were available but then the sales rep at the store told me Losi was discontinuing the crawlers and trekkers. However I have decided to stick with this one, have some fun with it and save up for the larger scale ones.

There's not much for clubs out this way and honestly I think I'm the only one in my town that has one. However, My father in law and son in law have shown some interest so maybe we'll start a club out here.

Anyway thats it for me, just wanted to say hi and a little about myself.

Hey guys i am really big in to micro rc. anything from micro cars to planes! i've had a crawler for a while now but have never messed with modding it. after seeing all the awesome scalers i have decided to make one. its says i joined in 2009 but really i joined to read a build thread that i was linked to and didnt come back till now!

I dont think I have ever checked in....
I have been into 1/10 RC for many years, my first was a Tamiya Wild Willies jeep back in the late 80's that was given to me.

In the Crawler world all I have is the MCRC and so far it has been a blast to run.
MODS so far:
Reversed trans
no springs
DDT 90T motor. (LOVEIT)
HR aluminum tranny case
56T HR spur gear
Zippy 2S 350mah lipos, #2 fav mod after the 90T motor.
batteries mount on rear axle.
Trekker axle stubs/hexes.
Play around with droop rubber bands.

Stuff that will all be here this week:
MiClaw tires
Extra set of stock rims for Danally's wide offset mod
Custom link materials (losi miniT cups, 2/56 all thread 1/8" thin wall alum. tube)
(BTW, The $10 mini tubing bender at harbor freight is AWESOME.)
9/32" thin wall alum. tube to lengthen drive shafts.

Hey,
I'm new to r/c crawling. I haven't r/c'd anything is a decade or more. I saw the Trail Trekker on a shelve at the local hobby store and had to have it. I have was been always into small stuff. This place is pretty cool. Great ideas. I have begun to do the basic mods. I work in a precision machine shop and have ideas for some sweet mods, but price come into play quickly. I'll find a place to post that stuff.
thanks
Zach

Precision machine shop? Please tell me we are going to see some awesome build threads from you soon.

Hi guys,

Micro newbie here, bought a losi micro crawler last week and already done the following to it:

- removed shock springs
- reversed tranny
- moved battery to rear axle
- removed some plastic pieces (spur cover and battery tray)
- shortened battery wire
- lipo's on backorder (380mAh)

and the following is on my to do list:

- 56T HR Alu Spur
- Blade SMC Chassis, not decided on length yet (SMC+ 4", 4.5EX, 5.5EX)
- beadlock wheels
- widen it
- alu locknuts

any tips on other stuff i need to do/buy with the mods on my to do list?

car seems a bit noisy though, it makes more noise than my 1:10 SCX10...

new hear and to the rc and learning got a redcat sumo crawler and now know why the thing was so cheep had it for less than a mounth and have had a lot of truble with it now Im working on it and moding it in to a scaler trail truck it is a 77 chevy

Hello, only been in rc for about a year run crawlers/scalers. Have an axial scx10 honcho, 2 losing mini crawlers and 2 losing micros. Gotta say I love the micros and this site helps with ideas to improve and customize my trucks

i hope to get a crawler mostly so i can mod it lol. i actually enjoy modding and building as much or even more then driving my rc vehicles. it seems that people like me are more common in the crawler world then the "nitro turbo go fast brushless traxxass punk" group

i have been looking at this forum for moths now. first i was looking into making a clod crawler, but decided it was too pricey. then i saw the micro and thought it was awesome. then i saw the wraith and was obsessed, but its also too pricey At the moment. the micro seems like it has more things that i can mod anyway.

Awesome MCRIPPPer! they sure aren't pretty, but what you call "hackish" is in the spirit of how the crawlers and scale crawlers all started out as before there were RTR kits.
Man I wish I had a mill @ 17, heck.. I wish I had one now!

thanks. yea the mill is awesome! its alot better then my hack saw and dremel lol. i eventually want to get a lathe too, so i can build a crawler form the ground up :D

oh yea, here is V1 of the crawler above. this is "pre minimill". the one above has parts made on the mill.

this one has a good bit of super glue holding it together lol

its the micro mark branded sieg sx2. i got it over the other sx2 options out there because of the .05 in lead screws. most of them have 1/16th in, which does not translate into thousandths very simply.

Hey everyone , have been looking on the forum for some time now but have never checked in or posted. I have been foolin with r/c cars since i could walk and have seen the technology advance over the years. Here are some pics of my first crawler that i picked up a few weeks ago. All stock except tires and the body.
