New gearbox and gear options

I decided to sell the adapters with the bearings necessary for conversion. This will save time and headaches.

If you make a purchase, it will come with enough adapters and bearings to convert 1 gear box.

As an option, you can also upgrade the rest of the bearings in the gearbox that are not necessary for conversion.

The last option is for running MT large gears vs. Berg large gears.

So, which one do I need if I want the option of running berg or mt gears in same case. Ie. Mix and match?

I don't think it's a good idea to mix the gears. Either run all berg or all MT because the bergs are much thinner gears than the MT.

In some instances it could work out great though. For example, if the MT plastic 4th gear does not hold up in the rear, its easy to run the Berg 4th and keep the rest plastic. I honestly think this is what will happen with the plastic gears any how.

Food for thought,... if you do end up having to change out to a Berg 4th gear, you may have to change the small 3rd to a Berg too which would leave you with a small Berg 3rd and large MT 3rd. I think you cross this path when you come to it though.

I haven't stared at the gear configuration as long as you, so if you use a berg fourth its touching a small metal gear and not the wide plastic? So, yes that would work great! I was thinking it was meshed with a wide plastic, I'm a dummy!

Can you be more specific? I.E. Berg 4th, Berg small 3rd, MT large 3rd etc,..

Berg small 3rd and 4th gears. mt for the others"thumbsup".

Edit. If i want to use berg small gears with mt large ones ill have to have my berg gears fitted for bigger pins. duh.

I will just rock the berg gears for now until the mt 3rd is back in stock."thumbsup"

Edit, agian..... The 12t mt gears are in stock at nitrorcx."thumbsup"

Cool to see they have those in stock again!

Just to answer your question anyway...

If you just want to use a Berg 4th and small 3rd with the rest being MT gears, you would need to:
Drill out the Berg small 3rd to fit the large MT 3rd slot
Run my adapters made for Berg small and MT large.

You would actually only need the one adapter in that case but I am selling them in pairs....

I think youre going the better route. I would try the Berg 4th and then the rest all MT gears. Much cheaper and easier that way. "thumbsup"

Just ordered three of the 12t small since they are now in stock, should be up and running soon with all plastic rear!"thumbsup"

Hopefully I beat you to the punch! I just ordered a couple as well.

I did some work on the Berg small/MT large setup tonight. It was much more complicated than I expected. It also came out a bit questionable as the adapter on the small 3rd had to have the O.D. turned down a lot to clear the large 2nd. Order this version at your risk for now....

Well, I'm at your mercy, because you have my tubes, and I need bearings from you as we'll!:lmao:

If the plastic fourth doesent hold out I will use a berg 4th, if more fail, I'm going to just get my hands on rcbros aluminum gears and run all aluminum in the front and rear!"thumbsup"

Keep us posted on your findings of running your adapters! You should be able to see if running all berg gears will work now.

I am not too worried about all Berg gears. That looks solid.

Little update today... I tried to machine a steel MT 4th gear to fit a Berg locker. No go, the metal is way too hard. Looks like the MT 4th and the MT locker are of no use to us Berg guys. Not a huge deal as it is really not needed anyway and after paying to have a steel MT 4th done, you pretty much could buy a Berg 4th..

Starting running the plastic 2nd and 3rd gear in my super, gone through 3 3s packs with no issues so far! "thumbsup" :flipoff: I'd run the 4th but I can't break the screws free on the metal gear with locker.

got any shots of the case open and shots of how you mounted your upper link mount?? very nice man! thanks for posting "thumbsup"

I probably won't have a pic of the case open until I get around to putting in the plastic 4th gear and my link mount is not permanently installed yet. Aka it's really hokey lol, I'm going to do something completely different though so I'm not fixing it.

Are you running front and rear gears and cases?

How hard are you pushing those gears dude. I'm so much more stoked then I ever was.

Pretty hard so far. I messed around on my course that I've broken several small gears and axles on for a pack and they held up fine. I also did a bunch of full throttle climbs on the granite boulder in my front yard, along with some straight up climbs for 2 packs. My motors seem to stall out before I break the gears, I need better motors though.
