Holy %&$# $150?.........a 3racing winch with the locked up rc free spool kit is still cheaper....im sure this is a pretty killer unit but $150 is just ridiculous for an rc winch

The new SSD winch is based on a high torque servo and can work with up to 11.1v.
The motor plug is the same as the RC4WD winches so it is easy to plug into an RC4WD controller. But can be cut off for use with HeyOK controller.
It lifted over 30Kg on 11.1v.
Using a normal winch controller you can expect it to lift 15Kg.
Just make sure you have a good winch line. Most lines break before 15Kg.
I tested with Dyneema (1.0mm diameter line).

All of KMS's freespool winches cost more than $150, the TZI Beefy winch is $120 (not freespool), the Quicksand winch was $230 5 years ago and cost even more used (if you can find one).

SSD said the unit was tested at 30+ kgs, which makes it 4-5 times stronger than a Locked Up modded 3Racing winch. If that number is true, no scale winch is really in the class with the SSD other than the unicorn-level rare Quicksand.

For what it is, I think $150 is quite fair.

Well said! For $150 this thing is a bargain for those who appreciate a good, reliable winch.
I will compare to my unicorn-level Quicksand when it gets delivered. If this compares to a Quicksand, it should be able to pull a 3Racing winch right out of it's mounting screws.

I think $150 is a reasonable price. At that price point I would expect it to outperform the other winches on the market,
look better than other winches on the market, but not beat out a Quicksand. Looks like it is doing it's job...! "thumbsup"

I hate to respond in a thread about another companies stuff, but one of our team guys pointed this out and I just want to make sure correct information is passed around.

An independent tester did a video on a 3Racing winch with a Commando Motor and they rated it at 10,000g @7.4v. That's 22lbs of force, which is double a stock 3Racing motor.

So to be accurate, it is ~3x stronger if their test was at 7.4v.
I don't know what their voltage was for testing or how many wraps were on their spool (or ours) ... but that's a fair ballpark I think.
