The black version of the VS4-10 is just what it wanted, the aluminium color looked weird to me.
The full name for this kit got even more ridiculous: Vanquish Products VS4-10 Origin Limited Black.
It does come with redesigned box art but I'm not bothering you guys with pictures of that.
When the kit came in.
Gathering electronics, I thought about putting in a Hobbywing Axe combo but I've never driven a brushed crawler and I'm not sure if I need to spend 4 times on the ESC + motor than I did now. I've had great success with the WP1080 on other builds and I've been told that when combined with a decent brushed motor it should run a lot smoother at low speed. The area where I live is flat and sandy, I don't think I need brushless power. Meh, I can always swap it out later.
The VS4-10 mixes metric and imperial bolts, being European I had to order an extra driver. During the build I didn't apply the Green Slime, I'll see if it's needed later on.
I printed a few fairleads I found on Thingiverse
I'm not sure about the stock, plastic kit wheels. I have some others laying around.
A driver and some printed accessories.
Here we go, chassis build. The included upgraded servo mount now connects to the front bumper and is aluminium instead of plastic.
Mixed my own mustard paint using Hobbynox water-based airbrush paints.
Turns out Finn the driver didn't fit, he bumped his head but could not reach the steering wheel. A Tamiya driver fits like the interior was designed for it, I did put a spacer behind the wheel to get it to reach his hands.
I feel like he's missing a moustache. I don't know why.
I ordered a Holmes Trailmaster for this truck but I received a 550, a 540 should be in next week.
Wheels have not been mounted because I'm waiting for a set of 2-stage foams.
It's weird that a kit this expensive doesn't come with a receiver box, there are other plastic parts in it. Anyway, something is in the mail.
Also a bunch of parts should be coming in soon to build a servo winch.
Stay tuned!
