My Competition Rig “Hayward” now water proofed with pictures and new updates

iwantoffroad said:
i want to add rockrings once i get different tires
im thinking the mashers 2000's or moabs on chrome revolver rims with a black rock ring

yeah i hear that on the tires

so many options

i dont own a crawler yet

been thinking about it for a while

i found this forum and im addicted to the crawlers for sure

ive been spending countless hours on here cheacking out rigs and threads

before i built my crawler i would spend countless hours too
just reading other people's buildups and wondering what i should build.

i ended up buying some clod axles and fabbing my own chassis and i bought the electronics for it

then ended up stripping it and using the electronics for my tlt build

then i wasnt sure if i wanted to build my own chassis or buy pre fabbed

and i wasnt sure if i wanted scale or a competitive chassis

so i went with pre fabbed
by bender
and a comp chassis
the sw2

the chassis is great and all the mounting holes give a great range of 4 link placement and shock placement

no regrets

thanks bender for making such a great chassis and upper link mounts

i drove my truck through some water before all these mods and my body mounts and esc mount rusted so i sanded the rust down a little bit and painted it with some black rustolem paint and it turned out pretty good

a battery mount to avoid the battery hitting the driveshafts or the motor.

i'll post pics soon on my electronics

"i plasti dipped

why would you do that? if you hot glued the openings?

Very Very Nice... Thanks for the ideas... been reading alot of post... time to buy a TLT and get started... "thumbsup"

Bearings

I run one of my trucks in the mud/water alot and the bushings will not hold up. Mine were shot buy the time the second battery pack was dead. The bushings around the pinion gear were actually egg shapped and allowed the pinion gear to move around enough to strip it and the ring gear. I have since put in rubber sealed bearings and have not had any problems yet. (about 10 battery packs) I have had the truck totally under water a few times to. This is just my experience with the bushing, just might be better to fix before there is more damage. Here is a pic of what I usually run in.

i am probably going to my second favorite crawl spot and test it out
there is a creek to go through and the spot would be a perfect candidate to hold a comp at. if i go i will post pics.
then hoping to be able to get off work on sunday and go to the competition with

i have run my rig under water and the bushings are holding up fine.
time will tell thou thanks for the advice

i just always thought that it was better to run bushings if the truck was gunna be run through water cuz the bushings wouldnt rust. so iduno?

good luck with your build

the swampers are a good tire all around
ok in the rocks
sand dirt and the mud

if u want a tire thats great for rocks and just rocks i recomend the moabs.

for a competition
