My 2008 2.2 comp rig

Very nice boss. Good job on the parts breakdown & links. Good tech, the way it should be done. I hope some take notice.

Also, that's the first grappler body I've seen that I like. Love the color, flows well with the whole rig."thumbsup"

very nice looking truck..pics look great..but I got to ask how did you make the puller motor fit with the r2:shock:

Tranny is slid all the way forward, and I had to cut the motor side of the chassi. All I really had to cut was make the rounded corner into a square corner. The tranny is touching the chassis on the front side, the motor is touching on the backside, it's almost like Brad built it for this setup!

How are you liking the cobalt puller?

I love these puller motors. My last 2.2 comp rig had the 5 turn in it. I liked that motor, but running on 11.1V it got real hot real quick, and was only limited to 5 minute comp runs. The 10 turn stays super cool and still provides killer power and decent wheelspeed. I may have to try a 7 turn next, maybe it'll be the best of both worlds.

Awesome shots Jason! Cool idea to shoot it with the pipes and pumps at your work.

Damn never thought I'd be getting picture complements from the man himself, Thanks!

Ha awesome, me and brett (K2) were just talking about Jason and wondering if either of us had ever seen his personal rig.

2 days later this comes...

Yea I am pretty bad when it comes to posting up my builds, I am gonna try to do it way more often.

Nice rig Jason.

The first post does a great job of laying it all out!

Nice photography by the way!

Thanks man.

That's the plan, I'm hoping that we can get some of the "old timers" here to start posting all the cool tech again and we can show these newbies how it's done. I just figured I'd lead it off be example;)

Yeah, finally someone has it fairly slammed. Looks pretty good.

Could I have it any other way?

The shocks are Losi units, built from all these part numbers:
LOSA5056 times 2=$39.90
LOSA5062 times 4=$28.00
LOSA5015 times 4=$8.00
LOSA5079 time 1=$4.00
LOSA6100 times 2 for spares=$2.50
LOSA5046 times 1=$3.00
LOSA2006 times 1=$4.00
They go together easier than any shock I have ever used and are super smooth.
I used Losi white springs times 2=$5.00
The left rear spring is a Traxxas Stampede grey=$2.00

WOW!! $96.40.......Are they really worth it? I've been looking into these, but never figured up what they cost. I'm running Integy Piggybacks on my SW3, and they work great (and don't leak, which everyone tells me is unusual), but I keep bending the shafts on the two rear shocks.

I guess I'll find out. Either I'll bite the bullet and order some, or I'll check yours out in person Jason at the Midwest Challenge.

Also, what kind of belly clearance you got with that set-up. It looks really low. Mine is sitting right at 2 3/4" and yours looks lower.

DX3R - is the third channel switch a stationary or a momentary switch?

They are worth it IMO. I have a set on my 2.2 and my Super, the smoothest shock I've ever tried. "thumbsup"

I have a few sets of those shocks, they never cost me that much, but I do love them!! They were in my RR when I crushed it, still fine!"thumbsup"

Bender runs them. That should be enough to make you buy some, right?!.

Thanks, I love the radio. It took a few minutes to figure out the menus and stuff, but now that I have it figured out it works great. Unlike the DX 3.0 the third channel works for rear steer and running an R2 tranny as well.

I think that it is stationary, will have to wait for jason to find out for sure though. The DX3R will be the radio to have"thumbsup".

Man that thing looks sharp!"thumbsup" Thanks for the itemization, it'll help me with some research I'm doing for my Comp Scorpion. I'm really diggin the Grappler Body and I've got to get the DX3R. Great work!

Well Brad, your comments in your build thread is what got me looking at these shocks. I've never paid more than $30 for a set of 4 shocks. BUT....I've never been 100% pleased with any of them either. These are off a XXX, correct? Rears? Anywhere else to get them as an assembled package, maybe cheaper?

They are off the rear of the XXX-T CR truck. They are just a hair longer then the standard 4" (100mm) shock too. As far as I know they are not available pre-built. I think Losi offered them complete at one time, but they aren't available that way anymore.

I have heard from someone (Bender;-) ), that the 3rd channel switch returns to center, like the DX3. You can click it once, and the 3rd channel will stay in that position. I assume that if you click it back the other way, it will stay in that position, having 3 total positions. I can't wait for this radio.

The 3rd channel switch does return to center everytime you hit it, just like the DX3.

Jason had it set-up so when you hit the 3rd channel switch once, the R2D goes into front wheel drive with neutral at the rear axle. Then, you hit it again in the same direction to lock the rear wheels. Back the other way once for neutral again, then again for 4wd. I drove it briefly last night and it works great. "thumbsup"
