Well it's about time that i post this up, been a bit busy you know
Pics will be a bit lame since it was a quick build for the AZ Summer Shootout comp.
Stats:
Berg Axles from TCS
One off Hybrid SE Delrin Chassis (base design by Harley0706)
Machined delrin skid
5/16" lower bent delrin links
1/4" Berg uppers, cut down.
Losi 4" crawler shocks from TCS 30wt oil all around
Holmes Hobbies Handwounds 45T
5955 servo from TCS
Dual FX-r's from TCS
CC BEC from Holmes Hobbies
Mayhem Berg "7" beadlocks (Saweeeettt!)
Losi Claws from TCS
3S 1300 Lipo from Holmes Hobbies
Now for the fun stuff:
BTA/OTA (base design from Nluv)
RC4WD Knuckles from TCS
Axial CVDs from TCS
That should be enough stuff to build a rig so here we go........
Got the basic chassis design from Harley and decided to to a bit of changing so some quick editing in Corel and we were ready for the laser cutter. Threw in some .125" delrin and a few minutes later we had side-plates. Next was to fire up the mill and make a skid 5/16" thick, in-boarded links and a center channel on the bottom.
Setting up some link lengths, using Jato and Revo 8/32 rod ends. Full 12.5" wheelbase.
We got a roller.. 3" of ground clearance, slightly clocked front axle "thumbsup"
(Enter Holmes Hobbies eye candy here  )
These things are the bomb on a 3S lipo and 12t pinions. Wheel speed is faster then 10t Cobalt/Ax10 trannyand axles/14t p /stock spur on 12volts. Thought that would help for comparison..
Following Nluvs build thread as a guide, i started on the steering setup. A little different but the same concept. I milled the top of the berg clamp style mounts to keep the servo plate as low as possible. Then fabricated delrin servo mount uprights to space the servo so the tie rod would pass under it. This also required me to move the upper link mount back one hole, i used a .016" titanium strap to tie the link mount and gear box back together.
The steering rod is made from 2-56 althread & 3/16" brake line, probably not stout enough over time but works perfectly for now. Added a few corner gussets for strength.. That's a simple tube/wire clamp i bent around the steering link and brazed in place.
Ok, here's a shot for you, i'll go into detail later on how this is done, promise ;-)
A few final shots..
And she runs pretty good too..:lol:
