MSD UTE build: The Blue Lux

Time for an update... For starters its RTR "thumbsup" Tekin FXR (favorite scaler ESC), Hitec 645 servo, spektrum receiver.

made a plate for the front bumper and mounted the winch and fair lead, not perfect but it'll do. Been working on the lighting system too

If I knew where my spools of wire were I could work on the HID headlights and rock lights but the wire is missing

Its getting there....almost done

Incredible. thanks for sharing. great ideas.

I like how the made the end of the bars on the rear of the bed and on bottom of front bumper flat so you could screw in and mount them. that looks clean."thumbsup"

Damn DUDE. YOU sort of just blew your other builds out of the water with this one! Great job. Miss the clone yet? You probably wont once you wheel this beast!

Im tossed between the Atomic Toy and this one ....... damn it .... I dont know which one to like more now.

Man you always rock out the details.

I always loose focus at that point..

Thanks Andy, I gotta try to do something to keep up with all the talent on here.

ALL I can say is, "THANX for sharing such an outstanding BUILD!"

Your welcome. Sometimes I think people are tired of seeing my shit, feels to go to know some still enjoy my relentless amount or Toyota builds.

Damn fine work Mike!! "thumbsup"

I agree with exschlesifyre, you have a knack for the finer details that most of us lose interest in. 8)

Thanks Chris "thumbsup"

Thanks, the bars in the bed was borrowed from a real 1:1 badass Toyota. I I always like to have my armor bolt on, this way it can be removed easy enough if a repair or something needs to be done.

Wow. This is amazing. Now I can blame you for all the stuff I'm going to buy for my Pajero.

Thanks

I do still miss the clone some what :| That truck set the bar pretty high back in the day...I think I miss playing submarine the most

you really nailed this one, great work. you also have really made the king proud by blessing your build with his tach.
trust me he sees this one.
"thumbsup"

I could only hope that Tim would find my build kick ass, Tim was HUGE inspiration for me, I hold him to the highest level, right up with greats like Dave Pack.

awsome work mike!
u have some serious talent. *is that a hilux crew cab i see in the backround?

Yes it is : http://axialracing.com/wordpress/2010/01/08/4-door-hi-lux-buildpart-ii/

How did you mount your steering servo?

Drilled and tap the front cross member and frill one more hole in the rail next to the shock mount holes and used an offset style (axial) servo mount.

Im tossed between the Atomic Toy and this one ....... damn it .... I dont know which one to like more now.

Sadly, the Atomic Toy may be finding its way to the sale forum very soon...I am all out funds to finish my 4runner and while its very hard to pick a rig to sell I feel like it could fetch some descent money...its a hard a choice to make, all of the rigs I have now I like very much and its hard to chose what to keep :-(

Looks real good "thumbsup"

Love your bumpers and seats.

Thanks

Say it ain't so. That flat bed is amazing, I wish I had the cash. I'd take it off your hands in a second. I'm guessing you wouldn't take an I.O.U from some one you never met:mrgreen: ( jk)

I have to agree with Bob, it's a toss up between the Blue Lux and the Atomic Toy. Both are such amazing rigs with insane amount of detail, you sure do build cool rigs.

I felt like the back needed some else...wasn't sure what...then it hit me...a truck net would be sweet! However my sewing skills are non existent and I really had no idea what fabric would work. I went by my Dads and bought the truck with me. I explained to my stepmom what I wanted and she had just the right stuff to make it. Couple of measurements and a few days later and she had for me one kick ass truck net

I love the tailgate net "thumbsup"

Question for Mr. Toyota Tech: What does the grille attach to? The outer fender, inner fender, or core support? Is the headlight trim ring a separate piece from the center section? It looks kinda weird with the trim ring hanging there.

Not to sure Stu, on my 4runner it attaches to the core support, I am guessing its the same? I have only seen 2, maybe 3 real Hilux up close EVER..and one of them did come into my dealer but never thought of taking those type of pics...guess I should have. In this pic it looks like the grill is all one pc? Maybe Dean/chino63 can provide some insight.

Wheels and tires are the cats meow on there.

Sweet build. When you starting mine? I got access to some great parts.

hey 1bjb, my 79 hilux was just like the blue one, the grill and the headlight rings are 3 different pieces.. if you where to take the fender of on one it would look just like the one you have built for the 1:10 version.. the rings bolt onto the grill as well onto the core support...hope this helps... i can maybe snap some pics of mine tomarrow for you"thumbsup"

So my 1/10 scale truck is accurate looking with how the grill is and the missing fender? Cool 8-) BTW I am always down for more good hilux pix if you have them
