Well I graduated from the academy last week so now my life can go back to normal and with the winter upon us here in NY its time to get my build on again  I have several builds to finish up this winter, and now that the sammy is done its time to finish up the blue lux.
I finally went out and picked up a weathering/rusting kit from Michaels. I had ordered the "Rustall" kit but it SUCKED and the paints were so watery they didnt stick to anything. With the kit from Michaels its actual real rust which is awesome. I practiced on my Proline accessories 1st to get a feel for it 1st
After having good results I moved onto the spare of the truck
After that I decided to break out the scotch bright and hit the entire body to dull it down and I used some motor clean on a rag to burn down to the primer
I then started applying the rust to the faded through areas
The end results...not to bad
Typical rotted/rust bed areas including the bob'd bed seam
Roof
Hood
Where the fender would be
Under the emblem and where the snorkel bolted up
Under the marker light
On the winch
Also weathered up the SOR Hi-lift some and dusted the bed
and dirtied up the carpet
Damn rusty Toyota frames...got the tank rusted up too
This was my 1st attempt at weathering, I think it came out well. Some may feel its a little excessive but it is a Toyota from the east coast :ror: Plus I had to make it seem haggered with the missing fender and all. I am also going to add some dents too, was letting everything dry fully before I do that.
Next up is some disc brakes with calipers, brake lines, and a few other finishing touches then this thing will be officially DONE
Thanks for looking
