Personally I think that replicating the rust at the spot welds around the rear wheel openings is one of the coolest features. You must have either owned one or had observed a few with that condition. AWESOME DETAIL!

The brown 83 above is mine, and I can see the spot welds in the bed on it, and my fathers friend had an 81 and he said that's where his started rusting.
I tried to rust the rest in spots that are most common as well

Did some big truck/tiny truck wheeling this past weekend at Rausch creek and AOAA. Met up with some guy and a n00b plus two of my local buddies. I love wheeling this truck, and it looks good doing it after all these years
