Hey everyone. So the set screws on my MIP driveshafts backed themselves out over the weekend. The front fell out (including pin and the little sleeve) while just riding in the car. Searched and searched and never found the set screw, pin, of sleeve. I'm guessing it was already backed out from the few short crawls I'd done testing. So I decided I'd just mess around with a rwd crawler for a bit :P. While I was doing some donuts my rear fell apart!

Anyways, I've read that some of you put locktite on the set screws to keep them in. I was just wondering what strength you all are using? I don't want to go so strong that I can't get them out. Thanks guys! "thumbsup"

I typically use blue loctite. Another thing is to clean off any oil from the threads with something like brake cleaner.

Thanks man. My buddy suggested green, cause it says its recommended for set screws? Idk, I'd rather go with what you guys suggest lol.

Btw, I love your screen name. In the past 12 years, not too many days have gone by that I haven't eaten atleast one pack of Ramen

Blue licktight, make sure you are tightnung screw on the flat part of the output and input shafts! I also run extra set screws in the unused holes for extra security (180deg) from the set screws on the flats. If you chech them, and can snug one up, take it out and re locktight it!

Well I picked up some blue thread locker. It wasn't Loctite brand but hopefully it'll work :P. I guess we'll see how it does crawling this weekend.

Thanks for the replys guys!!! "thumbsup"

i use blue also but what i also did was take out set screw to the axle shaft and used a 3mm tap. then used the larger screws that fit the traxxas, eliminates the use of the small allen wrench and able to use a 1.5mm. get alittle bit more meat to grab and less likely to strip out

I don't do well with modifying miniature items. I'd probably ruin the driveshafts and have to buy yet another set haha
