Stubs is back, with nothing to offer

Get this thing running yet? :geek:🍿
Yes I did. Went out with Spencer and burned through some packs. The car did good considering I hardly had any weight on the front and Sedonas. Then the servo mount broke.

Dan Guy gave me some VooDoos, some spare Delrin Superlite parts and brass rings for the knuckles. So I got the servo mount replaced and the tires mounted. Had to narrow one of the tires.

I also have all the parts collected to build up the RCBros/Egressor shocks!

Great looking rig. I only have a one twenty four scx so I haven’t gotten into any super special shocks. I’m kind of jealous, building shocks looks like it would be fun.
You had to narrow only one of the tires? Did someone get bored and not finish?

We have a couple SCX24s. They are quite fun, especially in the house on rainy days.

Ya, I got 6 Voodoos and the guy had narrowed one and gave up. I’m not a big fan of narrowed tires for multiple reasons but had to narrow at least one more to have a set. They are fine for the back where you want less traction anyway and a little narrower to clear gates is beneficial.

Found some dry’ish rock yesterday with some decent test lines. The car is working pretty good now. Added knuckle weight, made some body panel clips and an updated battery mount the doesn’t require a strap.

I designed an adjustable weight skid for my chassis. (Not saying I was the first but…) I had the idea to weight the skid years ago after driving a sporty and noticing how much more composed the chassis felt. I attributed it the all the weight in the chassis compared to a moa. So I loaded up my skid and tested it. It was definitely better and that’s where the idea behind the Dlux brass skid came from. So I’m a big fan of weighted skids for MOA chassis.

60g full of weight and 20g empty. It can be adjusted in 10g increments.

Went to my first PNW comp Sunday and did really good on the first course. A little rusty running gates on the clock but it felt good. Then my front motor took a shit.

Then decide the cab needs to be lower and at the 3” minimum so drew up a shorter one. I kinda like the look of the taller cab but it isn’t really helping with rollovers so I think the shorter one is better in the end.

looks good man, did you run with white trash?
i talked to dan and had a chassis cut myself. the weighted skid is a must. so much so, i think my sporty project will need it.

No. I don’t know if he goes to the Portland guys comps?

I love the weighted skid. Nothing crazy but just enough to settle everything down. Dan is the man. When did you get a chassis cut? I’m going to start selling this chassis and some other stuff so getting a bunch cut but Dan doesn’t do big quantities unfortunately.

Ya, time for some new motors from Brood. Not sure who threw it? But it’s the guys out of Portland area. It was just outside of Vancouver, WA.
That’s cool to know. I’m on the Oregon central coast. I might be down to check out a comp up there if any info hit this site before the crawl. I heard there was a good comp in Junction City last spring or early summer. But that’s all I have heard of for comps around here. I don’t do social media so unless it get’s advertised here I don’t know about it.

he cut mine last week sometime. just received it yesterday. i think im going to have him cut some MT stuff for me in the future.

my sporty will be on hold for now, but when switching from a 540 can to a dlux fab stumpy, i feel the weight could be put back in the skid. it does help settle the chassis.

Oh cool. Ya, he’s a good dude. I’m glad I live so close to him.

I have axles on the way to start on a sporty. How do you like the brushless vs brushed?

ill be honest, ill never run brushed in a crawler again. unless i build a super. even with a skewed 5 slot and stupid low gearing, id rather just run a small outrunner.

Really? Even in an MOA? I’ve never driven one with brushless I guess.

yeah, ive even designed some xr style axles around some small outrunners. havent tested them yet because i want to actually delete a gear cluster from berg gears and add portals with the small outrunners.

The speed at which you can prototype parts with a good 3d printer is astounding to me. I have been through so many iterations of this chassis and these wheels before I had to put my money where my mouth is. The printed wheel faces did not hold up so well but the cab and body panels have held up surprisingly well. I think I’ll be sticking with the printed body panels. I finally got my roll center issue sorted and the rig is super stable but not dead feeling. I’m loving it.
