Mamba Firmware V2.02

All Mamba X's produced after 4/27/17 were shipped with 2.02 on them. The likelihood of getting one with an old version is pretty slim at this point.

Just a word of caution for anyone looking to buy a Mamba X or any CC product. Please buy from a reputable dealer, not ebay. Buying off ebay is a crap shoot whether you will get a genuine CC product or an illegal ripoff clone. Just sayin!

Never seen any counterfeit Mambas or sensored Motors. eBay has many quality genuine castle creations vendors

@Flysky Users.

I noticed on my Flysky GT3C the aux wire or 3rd channel button is engaging 100% drag brake by default. When disengaged I have it programmed to do a 50% drag brake for crawling. I guess there's no complaints that the 3rd channel button is working, but is there any way short of having to hack the controller, to get the trim/dual rate/exponential to get the 3rd channel to read the 1.1ms to 1.9ms reading?

I assume you would just need to adjust the limit til you get your desired effect

This is a super helpful thread "thumbsup", Thanks to the kind folks at Castle and all the members who chimed in too.

I studied up while I was at work so I could troubleshoot why the Rock race/Crawler mode wasn't toggling and I learned all I needed to fix and fine tune it.

I had it set in Castle link to crawler reverse, which it shouldn't be, it should be set to "with reverse" (the delayed reverse mode) or "without reverse", if its not set to one of these two reverse modes it wont toggle between Rock Race/Crawler modes.

I also had to set the travel to 105% on L as it still had a tiny drag brake going on, I was shooting for 0% drag brake.

I can think of one little addition that the Castle help/setup page could benefit from: note that in order to use the "Rock Race/Crawler mode" that the reverse mode will need to be set to either "with reverse" or "without reverse", and Rock Race/Crawler mode wont work when its set to "crawler reverse".

That's a very good point HumboldtEf! I can see how this would be confusing and explains the issues you were having. But I'm glad you got it figured out.

I went ahead and updated that page. I added the following note to the "Rock Race Mode" section:

Note: Do not set 'Reverse Type' to "Crawler Reverse"; this will not allow you to switch reverse modes, use only "With Reverse" or "Without Reverse"

I Finally got my Wraith up and running with my new Mamba X using the crawl/race mode and I have one more question that I'm not sure has been answered yet.

Is it possible when using a 3 position switch to have crawler reverse/instant reverse for the high and mid positions?
As it is now with my settings I have 3 positions 100%, 50% and 0%, and I only get the crawler reverse at 100% and delayed reverse for 50% and 0%. I'm hoping to get the crawler reverse working at the mid position/50%.

Is that possible?

Would changing to a linear switch serve me better?

The switch point between the modes is set by the drag brake setting in Castle Link. If you set it to 25% drag brake then below 25% you will get the reverse type you set in Castle Link. Over 25% you will get Crawler Reverse.

Awesome, thank you "thumbsup"

EDIT: I just got to the workshop and that did the trick, I set it to 10% and now my midway point has crawler reverse too.

How does the Mamba Monster X work with brushed motors? Just as good? Specifically in terms of drag brake...

I want to put one of these in my Traxxas Summit...and tie in the AUX wire to High Low shifter...so low gear would have instant reverse and drag brake...high gear would be normal.

I am assuming even in brushed mode this ESC would be better than the Hobbywing one I have now?...and the extra features/customizable AUX channel is just the icing on the cake. I am running a 14.4v Dewalt Brushed Motor right now if that makes a difference

The drag brake functionality is the same in brushed mode as it is in brushless.

Sadly the shifter servo is backwards from our aux wire, so to get the drag brake/low gear and no drag/high gear setup you have to buy a servo reverser like this: https://www.amazon.com/Turnigy-Reverser-3v-12-6v-Reverse-Version/dp/B01GN0GAUY

Awesome thanks for the response. Now that I think about it...do both brushed and brushless motors have the same drag brake strength? Just based on design...I'm not sure how drag brakes work but I know that motors are different.

Anyways....good to know I am not the only one who has thought about putting it in a Summit. Too bad about the reverser though...not the end of the world. Maybe that setting can be reversed in Mamba Firmware 2.03? ;-) Haha

is this the case for just the summit?
just picked up a mamba x and castle sensored motor for my twin hammers. i am using a tactic ttx300 3 channel tx and only a 3 channel rx. with this setup, can i get full drag brake in low gear and miniml to none in high?
