Mamba Firmware V2.02

So using a Y splitter should be ok. I assume that I need to enable the drag brake using the castle link ? Im currently awaiting for my usb link to be delivered.

I made a y-splitter from a couple of cheap ebay servo extensions.

If you need the signal reversed to the servo use something like the Expert Electronics EXRA320 reverser that has an integrated y-harness.

You'll need the castle link and software to update the ESC firmware and configure the rock racer/crawler mode.

Well my castle link has arrived and Ive had a go at setting up rock racer/crawler mode. The aux cable is plugged into my 3rd channel on a Y splitter. However I appear to have full on drag brake in both gears. Any help would be appreciated.....

Disconnect the servo and then adjust the tx endpoints until the drag brake engages and disengages as you would expect it to.

Then hook the servo up and adjust the throw with the length of the linkage, the position of the servo horn, and the various holes on the horn.

Ah so basically I havent got enough travel happening from the transmitter when I engage 2nd gear for the rock racer mode to engage.:ror:

By end points do you mean on my handset ? Sorry for the questions its a bit new for me.

Bingo."thumbsup"

Yes, from the handheld transmitter. Depending on the transmitter, it may require a bit more patience when setting the endpoints.

I'm using a Spektrum DX4C where I can see the numerical value for where I am in the range of available servo movement.

Let me know if that works for you.

Well I stripped the bomber all down today and changed the 2nd gear ratio to the taller one. Whilst I was at it I disconnected the gear servo and had a fiddle. Hey presto crawler/rock racer modes available!"thumbsup""thumbsup"

Thanks for your help :)

if I were to purchase a Mamba X esc today, will it already be updated with the most recent firmware?
It would most likely depend on where you got it from and how long they have had them in stock for. Bigger name places would have a much higher chance of updated firmware than say someone random on eBay.

I got mine on eBay. It was the updated version. No real way to know

Do you have a windows computer or tablet? If so, order your mamba esc and it comes with a coupon for a free castle link. Then download the free software on castles site.

Even if it comes with the updated verison, you'll still want to make changes yourself.

Ok, do you have a windows computer or tablet? If not, you can find a cheap windows tablet to buy and download the software. The tablet option is nice to have so you can carry it with you out in the field, if needed. And if you have a castle bec, you can adjust bec voltage as well.

IIRC the mamba X still come with coupons for free castle links. "thumbsup"

Mine came with a coupon, but for USA only. Would have been nice to get the programming card.

Fortunately, I already had the link unit I bought to program the yeti RTR ESC and their 10A BEC.

My Mamba arrived at the end of August and still had the old firmware.

I bought mine late September in the UK and it had the latest firmware and also came with the coupon. I got fed up with waiting for the link to arrive from the States, so ordered the tuning card....they both arrived the next day.....typical.
