Howdy folks. After being out of the hobby for more than 10 years (closer to 14 actually) I've been bit by the bug and exploring which way to jump back into RC. Crawling has the biggest appeal/draw to it. Just wanted to make a post and say hey, still see a lot of the old timers from back in the day posting threads and comments which is cool. As I peruse through old threads and even searching my old username it makes me wish I had taken more photos of all the rigs over the years. From 2004 to my departure in the hobby in 2010ish, between bashers, 1/10th and 1/8th off road racing and crawlers and a very brief venture into indoor carpet on-road I estimate about 50 rigs and I can only find maybe 3 pics total lol.

This thread is honestly a bit pointless and is coming to y'all as I sit at work drinking coffee and scrolling the Vanquish website lol. Man the hobby has changed. Comp crawlers are skeletons with weird skinny tall tires, scale rigs are off the charts realistic, tires are officially licensed 1:1 replicas, which was rare back in the day. I look forward to getting back in, but Im starting from scratch as far as equipment goes. I love that this forum is still around, seems that the activity has slowed to a...crawl...lol. I'll keep an eye on this and update as I decide which direction to go in the hobby, leaning towards the H10 Optic as an all around use case rig, seems like a decent platform for having something for the rocks but also a little go fast run about rig I can take camping and to the beach.

Thats enough of my ramble, say hey if you want, keep tabs on my return, albeit a slow return but a return none the less.

Welcome back! What was your previous username? This one seems somewhat familiar, but avatar pictures trigger my memory more.

So which truck are you leaning towards as your first to get back into this segment of RC?

previous username was axman2010 lol. I wasnt THAT active but chimed in here and there. I do have another old username, probably keith2 on that one. Also never had an avatar pic though.

Im leaning towards an H10 as first pick, not 100% yet, been looking through some build threads on them, seems like a decent rig, might need some quick attention on tires/foams and motor but those are simple enough to upgrade. Another one Im looking at is an enduro, the cost is appealing since I literally only have a charger and nothing else so I do need to start all over. So a slightly lower entry cost to get back into it wouldnt be a bad thing, but I also know myself and might be disappointed in a lower cost vehicle. The H10 seems to come with plenty out of the box that wouldnt need modding right away.

H10 seems like a great choice. There are so many aftermarket companies making parts for it to make it even cooler. I just wish they'd release the kit.

I have a Vanquish Fordyce (don't Google that without adding Vanquish before it and RC after it :ROFLMAO: ) RTR and it was surprisingly good out of the box. Not sure how the H10 fares with stock electronics.

I've been in and out of the hobby a few times over the years. Every time I come back after a break, I'm amazed at how much the crawler scene has grown and what new products have been released.

Yeah its pretty wild to see. But it also makes me wish I had held onto some older gear. I would like another set of vanquish dirty harry 2.2 wheels and weights, Im sure theres plenty of reasons these days to not run them but it would be fun to build a throwback ax10 based crawler like i had in 2008/2009 just for the heck of it. Had fully decked out ax10 axles, over/under, forget who made them but the spools with locking sets crews, all vanquish hubs/knuckles/lock outs. the dirty harry wheels, SWX Bender chassis, holmes puller on a tekin fx-r, hot bodies rovers or the losi comp crawlers if Im even remembering tire names correctly, it was a run of the mill ax10 comp rig but it performed damn well until the MOA rigs came on scene and took over.

Is there still a for sale section on the forum? If so I assume Im in a probationary period with my new account until I can see that section huh? Maybe I can source some old stuff and put something together to play with.

I was MIA for years also and sold everything off. Got back into it maybe two months ago. Be careful it’s just as addicting as it was back then haha. I’m on my third truck so far haha.
The H10 was my first. I love the cage rock buggy look. I almost didn’t buy it because they only offer it in RTR. All the electronics got pulled before I even ran it. Also bought new tires, wheels and foams. So all that stock stuff is just sitting in the box lol. It was a quite boring experience for me because you just pull the truck out of the box and well that’s it. I really love building the kits so my next two trucks were kits.
Have fun. Look forward to seeing what you get.
