Lucas Red N Tacky?

I use blue marine grease and haven't had any issues. Think the 3.95 tube I bought has lasted 3 years and has enough for 10 more.

Grease that's too sticky and thick will cause unwanted friction in RCs leading to drag. This is much harder on little electric motors and more noticeable than in a 1:1. This red and tacky doesn't cause extreme drag?

That would be why I use the engine assembly lube. I felt regular grease is too thick for little RC gears. Assembly lube is thinner, slippery and I find it sticks to the gears. Although, i was at a part store last night and saw some "red n tacky" on the shelf. I nearly bought it just to try it.

I haven't noticed any heat build up in either the motor or the ESC on my ascender, and I have red 'n' tacky jam packed in both axles, as well as the GCM T-case...could be my choice of power plants though, I use a HH 540 outrunner, and an RX8 G2. I can't even get the fan to spin on the esc unless I use a lipo with the wrong cell count for the ESCs current setting.

I have tried several types of grease through the years. Recently I used the Lucas Red n Tacky, but went to some open gear grease because of its stay put properties. I have been in industrial maintenance for many years and swear by this stuff.

This was the wear on my gears after only a few hours of runtime with Lucas. You can put as much grease as you want on a gear but it will be displaced by the mesh. This leaves but a film on the gear. The open gear grease is thicker and tackier and has better heat resistance etc. The drivetrain is super quiet with it applied. You won't need much of it either. $8 for the tube from Grainger.

Every grease will create some drag. Even with the slight added drag from the heavier grease, I have had no issues with motor or esc temps. We are running crawlers and not race trucks.
