Losi Baja Rey 1/10th 4WD RTR desert truck

It beeps 3 times (is this the normal low voltage cut off?) My battery still says it has 4v per cell..

For now i assume it just overheated

It beeps 3 times at start-up because you have a 3s in it, put a 2s in and it will beep 2 times, 4s will beep 4 times. Do you have the Hobbywing program card (30501003) for the SC8 ESC? If you do, double check what the low voltage cutoff is set at. I had to set mine to 3v per cell to end up with ~3.6v in each when lvc kicks in.

My earlier run it was working fine but now after charging it back up it seems to just stop working, like it will go for a bit then cut out completely and it sometimes will work after turning it back on but mostly it doesnt do anything after restarting. This is just after charging so you can rule that out. Im brand new to rc so im unfamilar with most of it... Thanks if u can help. I know its probably to vague to be able to diagnose.

The rebuild on my Baja rey will start hopefully tomorrow. The losi aluminum servo mount and bellcrank as well as the ssd front bulkhead came in as well as fast eddy bearings came in today. Then as long as the class 12.9 hardware I ordered comes in tomorrow, I’ll be able to start the rebuild. I will also be replacing the servo.

This parts order was just to get it back together with upgrades as it is currently ripped apart.

I hear ya, my Baja Rey has a pile of parts on standby to get it back to 100%, paint/body, bumper, and tires. It still works fine, but looks like a beat up old junkyard dog! I'll hopefully be able to start on it next week after I button up a few other rc's. Fluorescent pink Raptor, here I come!

Nice, I still haven’t replaced the center outdrive that I had to cut in half yet. I figured since I’m already starting to have issues with the stock screws, I might as well just replace them now. I mean it’s winter time anyway, so it’s the perfect time to rebuild it.

Then come spring time I should be able to drive it like I stole it and not have to worry about known issues too much

Well i dont know whats q
Wrong, its not the battery. I run it and then it will just stop, nothing at all - no steering or anything. This is just after a couple of mins running.

After it happens most of the time it wont turn on when i try to but if I wait it will turn back on but most of the time it will just die just after it beeps.

Sounds like the ESC isn't providing power to the radio correctly. Might have a defective Battery Eliminator Circuit inside the ESC.

today it din't even run, 3 beeps on for 1 second then died and wouldn't turn back on. Is this going to be a new esc or is there a cheaper option?

Ok it all makes sense now, Just trying to figure it out now. Whenever it stops I go to the battery connection and press it, it start back up every time. This battery has quite a lot of wire and its quite folded and hanging, on a early run it must of hit something and it's got exposed metal on the top. It started back up each time it cuts off when I pressed it the connector / exposed metal.

If you can't shorten the battery wires and solder on a new connector, you can give the battery side of the EC3 a GENTLE squeeze with a pair of pliers, making them SLIGHTLY oval to give them a little tension.

I just came across the new 1/6 scale "Super Baja Rey" Losi: SuperBajaRey:1/6 4wd Electric Desert Truck RTR-BLK: Losi (LOS05013T1) It really does just look like a bigger version of the current Baja Rey. I don't expect it to compete with a Kraken Vekta5 (as far as I know, the only other large scale, solid rear axle, rtr) but at less than half the price (and weight) I wonder how it will hold up? At $800 rtr (sans batteries) it is sure to sell better than the $1000 DBXLE.

I was waiting for Losi to do this. My Baja Rey is my favorite go fast rig and now it comes super sized, lol.

I don't know how well it will sell. It's not 5th scale so you're stuck with the stock wheels and tyres. You won't be able to race it unless a spec class is created. Whereas the DBXL sold really well and the E version is really quite excellent and really good value.

Btw there's the FID Dragon Hammer.

 super Baja rey... hell.. it sure would screw up all the other 1/5 scales out on the track. so I would imagine its not allowed because of the weight and size. it looks bigger, but its not as big as the dbxl.

cant wait to buy 3 of these.

You're right. The wheels are quite a bit smaller according to Losi's specs. That's not just odd that's freaking stupid!

That's fine, the Kraken Vekta5 is the ugliest damn RC ever. Looks like it's rolling on training wheels. I'd buy a fleet of Losi 5ives and Super Baja Reys before buying a Vekta5.
You know what they say about opinions...

1/6th scale is smaller than 1/5th scale. This Super Baja Rey is smaller than Losi's other 1/5th scale vehicles. It's shorter than the 5IVE-T by 7.5" according to Losi's specs.

FYI the tires on the original Baja Rey are not standard short course tires either. They are a good bit taller and the only other trucks that have tires close to the same size are the Yeti TT and the Losi SCBE 1/10. So, it’s not uncharted ground for them to offer a wonkie size tire.

Edit: Left to right, SCBE/BR stock tire and wheel, Stock Slash 4x4 tire and wheel, RC4wd M/T short course wheels and proline SC TSL's.

I know its smaller. lol I did type "weight and size" "smaller than the dbxl"

but anyways.. whats your opinion on the super Baja rey?

I still hate the battery connectors.

think anybody will try to run Baja 5b rims and tires on this?

we all know nobody will make a metal axle..

are we getting metal shielded bearings again?

will we have the same ring and pinion issues?

will axial come back into the game with a yeti xl tt?

its aimed for the basher revenue.. but... I want to race it against the 5th scales so bad.
