Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

most are pretty well covered. i will just have to be carefull of playing in the really sandy areas... this is something i already am very carefull of due to killing multiple 150+ dollar sets of motors with sand:shock:

i have more work to do on my axle tops still:twisted:

Sand? In AZ? Is there anything BUT sand?

VERY cool lookin mods. Jakes got some catchin up to do...after he shakes off the Kilkenny haze of course.

What're your feelings on the uber skinny rig now? You resisted & even spoke against the Jenny Craig Clans but have not only joined em...have jumped up front to drive that train.

I know it started out as being bored since you accomplished so much with an "average" weight rig...but now that you've had time with it...do you think it's pros outweigh it's cons as a whole?

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

Kudos for being so ambitious in your quest for light weight, but don't you think those motor plates are going to flex like a wet noodle?
Mountain bikers were using this same process to shave weight from their bikes back in the late 80's and early 90's until they realized it was actually hurting performance.

Don't get me wrong, I hope that this is successful for you... Every ounce counts.

jakes still on par and ahead.:ror:

it's kinda funny that's how it was....

my conclusion is:

there is way more tuning, but not only that...correct geometry has more of an effect on these light cars that a heavy truck. the weight really masks nuances that incorrect geo has on any given chassis.

taking the mask off really opens up your eyes and make learning what the specific changes are doing.

trying to make the truck do what you want with geo is much more time consuming and quite honestly more interesting that throwing weight at it..

i have found that the light truck i have been driving will do all the things that my heavy truck would do....maybe not quite as fast*** yet*** but it does it.

the interesting part is the light truck will do things the heavy truck was just not physically capable of.

it is kinda hard to explain but the lighter truck will go up things and stay on things with little to no effort...sidehills and break overs in particular.

the other most noticeable attribute is the manuverability... you can simply steer the truck, front and back, wherever and whenever you want.

it does take some time to get used to. my overall driving has slowed some but that is not too big a deal. comfort will come with time.

i am feeling really good the more i drive it and think it will hold for some time. again like i said before the challenge has taken hold of me.

i guess time will tell. but my 30 or so packs so far indicate they will be fine even with my horsepower.

i don't expect everyone to jump up and do this...it was just something i wanted to try.

between all the mating surfaces once they are installed ie; motor link mount case, gearshafts, axle top....

i think they are plenty strong"thumbsup"

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

Its been cool...& by cool I mean FRUSTRATING to watch Jake fling is skinny rig up, over, around, down & along some lines that the heavier rigs are fighting.

Weight masking geo or setup issues makes a lot of sense...if a particular link geometry is wrong in the sense that its not the BEST setup for that particular rig...a weighted wheel or knuckle will "force" that link to work.

Damn...that just means Im gonna have to build a skinny truck someday. Thanks Jake & Jeremy :flipoff:

Cool Cool, good to hear "thumbsup"

Building light is a fun game isn't it?

The new setup is looking good. How did the lightweight motors work out?

x2. When I switched to the Secret Agent 4.0 with berg axles and started shedding weight it was like a 2 week experiment for me. That's just me, some guys might have figured it out in 20 minutes.
Change this, take that off, add weight , take the weight back off, move a link, add a spacer. What about shock oil, springs, foams, etc etc.

A lighter truck has proved to be more stable for me as well.
Thanks pushing the envelope. "thumbsup"

That's almost exactly word for word what i was telling JD a couple of days ago but he didn't believe me when I said it. Go figure:roll::ror:

i don't expect everyone to jump up and do this...

Right... give it till the weekend and I bet you'll see about 5 guys posting up their rendition of those motor plates.

Thats not what you said...is it? I tune out once the "shakas" & "bradahs" start up.

Hmmmm...I can think of at least ONE that'll be asking what size drill bit you used.

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

And maybe a touch conceited...

I'm not conceited, just convinced:lmao:
