Knightkeeper Tacoma build

Welp this project is now likely dead for now (severaly pissed off, may have to walk away frok it) Tinkercad just went haywire and lost all my work. So I have a body maybe if I don't need to make any changes. With 2 weeks left, doubt I can redo everything while trying to learn how to even start a project in fusion 360.

Just emptied everything from tinker cad. Right now I think I exported everything EXCEPT the drivers it looks like. Hopefully all the parts are the finished versions except the bed.... trying to see if I can import all the parts and though can't backtrack to make changes, maybe, just maybe I can recover enough I can pull this out of my ass.

Omg nooo.

Damn, that's devastating news!

Hopefully some of it can be found and saved! I feel your pain as I've had similar situations with lost data! Technology can be a b-tch sometimes!

Still very irritated. Slept like crap cause of going to bed pissed off. This damn project it's like the car gods (or rc car gods lol) are all about testing my resolve or seeing if they can kill me. First the water damage right at the start, insurance dragging their ass so I had to take out a loan to cover repairs/replacements till they pay up, now this.....

Well sucks but not a total loss:

Drivers gone, gotta completely redo those. Not terrible as the woman wasn't finished. Few hours work at most.

Drop bed, ya that sucks a bit. Last export was fender well and gk shock tower clearance, lost changes for sway bar and detail work for mounting scale parts. Without being able to backtrack changes I may have to start this part over.

Body: the front clip I lost all the tweaking to the fender flares. To get them to look right/clean took a long while. But since I had printed one without the roof section to verify wheel base, which just finished while I was sleeping, NOT TOTALLY SCREWED, THE WHEEL BASE LINES UP!!!!!!!! If it was off by more than a tiny bit, that would have been very bad, fixing that without being able to backtrack changes since I combined the front cab and front clip into one part would have made redoing it impossible in time frame. Instead now since it's just the flares, I'll use my dremel to make the necessary clearance increase.

For the love, no more set backs PLEASE!!!! LOL.

So after a bit of a break I remembered the most important thing of any hobby, enjoying it. Stress doesn't =enjoyment even for me lol.

I said to hell with the deadline. Got house repairs starting hopefully mid week next week anyway. Plus Knightrunner and Hilux can't even be driven at the moment, so 0 rigs to enjoy. Major fail on my part lol.

Drop bed I started over, drivers to follow. Finding many scale parts are actually 1/8 size excuse for 1/10 so top big. Means I gotta print boards, shovel and so on to be sure I get proper scale.

Now onto the progress. Took a bit tonight to get the latest body sections glued together so I can plastic weld them and the final 2 main body parts are printing now.

Have to share the knightrunner printed mods too. The bumper/skid 1 piece and the "high clearance" trans plate I printed and installed. Just gotta get shackles on and light pods moved from previous bumper.

Also pic of the rock sliders I printed for it which I will copy over for side plates/sliders to print on this build. Actually sliders get used more than one would think, more than I ever expected and they DO help sometimes.

Now just to wait on my printers to do their thing piece by piece. Body shell itself IS PRINTED FINALLY!!! Just gotta finish getting it together. Back half of interior will be done in the morning and updated drop bed just went on.

Picked up a 3d pen that will run ABS so PETG is no problem. Much better than a soldering iron to weld the joints together.

PROGRESS, WE'RE MAKING PRO-GRESS!!!!

Sorry movie reference lol

Interior is just fitted, not quite as clean of a fit as I had hoped but acceptable for first attempt.

Progress man! I'm just looking at that body print, and I'd be dreading the sanding lol.
Not looking forward to it but I have a lot to learn on printer tuning. And the seams are thanks to a 3d pen I got that's abs rated.

I have the same color PLA which testing shows ok in sun so may redo shell later in pla, I have that shit figured out lol.

Plus side, I have 2 dremels and about every attachment in existence [emoji41] those seams will be easy for that. I'm not going to perfect the layer lines and such to be nice and smooth. This thing is going to get TORE UP lol. Seams and edges with dremel, sanding the hood and roof cause those layers look horrible, minor sanding being that then A LOT of automotive plastic panel clear coat!!!! Well clear after I add some decals.

The sanding will be well worth it. Bravo.

Yeah seems like you've got it all lined up to get the body done.

Speaking of the automotive clear for plastics, on one of my builds I plan to decal a lexan body and then clear over it. Would you recommend the same type of clear for it? I want to protect the livery as much as I can.

Get plastic adhesion promoter. Sold at autopart stores with the clear and paint. And don't panic as it does go on a bit foggy. Follow directions then clear coat over it. What I did on my knightrunner. The adhesion promoter is needed for using automotive paint on lexan too. My KR gets the shit beat out of it and no cracks or chips from the paint letting go. Trick i was explained by guys in the scalers group here.

Fit isn't bad for still needing to grind down seams inside so interior fits all the way. Hopefully I don't have to flip the transmission though.... that will be a project to trim the almost paper thin interior to make room for spur.

^^^This! Excellent work so far! Love the look and the stance! Great to hear it's moving in the right direction! I'm anxious to see this all come together!

Great looking Yota's!"thumbsup""thumbsup"

I agree my brother. The bed is looking nice. I think tigiris can get away with a pretty low stance on this thing.

Appreciate that my friend. I just snagged the ORLB. Love it. The 84 is near complete. Needs bumpers.

Yeah this gonna turn out great. Those flares and the bobbed bed mean business. And thanks for the paint tip.
