KCRC - Kansas City Remote Crawlers -

KCRC 2012 Comp Season....

I'm sure this is a bit premature, and really don't want to start another debate (what ever the rules committee decides, I will gladly oblige).

It is apparent some changes are going to be made for next year,
http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/rules/345971-2-2s-class.html
and if history repeats itself, revised rules will hopfully be up my January sometime. To be honest, I am not even sure who our Rules Committee Representative is/are.

With the holiday season approaching (yeah gifts), and the winter time blues (rebuild time), just looking for a little insight into what direction this may actually go. Unfortunately, for myself anyway, "build time" has become very very precious...just would hate to see anyone waste thier time and money for something that will not fly.

Rules rep is me.

The 2.2S class deal is still up for debate. The restriction of bodiless is for helping make it look more visually equal playing field for new comers. This is really a national level thing though. Local clubs can allow or disallow anything they like. Now if you plan on possibly hitting National level events then I would say hold off until a call is made. Going with a bodied rig is the "safe" call no matter what but you get my point.

You know who you are...

Papa's in the house!! "thumbsup""thumbsup"

Congrats brother, really happy for you two!

Let the fun begin ;-).

With a 5 to 1 ratio against body only rigs, I would say that the "masses" disagree w/ the "visually equal playing field ideology" .

I'm slowly building a Sporty and I intent to run a bodiless rig. I have no intention of competing at a "National" level so I'm good regardless."thumbsup"

It's more of an outside looking in situation. Also that thread was FULL of complete misinformation. I see very little weight to that whole thread.

This is how I see it Josh. This is MY opinion, take it for what it's worth. But most of the people I discussed this with are against the body only rule. So I would say that the 5 to 1 ratio is pretty accurate.

Anyone buying a shafty rig (Losi, Axial, Creeper, ect...) is going to HAVE to purchase an aftermarket chassis at some point to be competitive. That said, why not allow the bodiless chassis which visually look more realistic than 99% of all bodied rigs.

Are we going to limit tires, wheels, or other aftermarket accessories for "Visual equality"?

That would piss alot of people off if they banned bodiless rigs. I just got my sportsman finished with a bodiless, but not worried since i wont be doing any nationals. Like DEZ said most new comers that are running stock chassis are going to want to upgrade. Bodiless chassis are easy to install and you dont have to worry about buying a body, painting it and trimning it. Bodiless all the way IMO

i have yet to see any bodyless chassis look like any real 1/1 chassis out there today !!
so far every bodyless chassis is a freak show,
unless its made from rod or tubing.

i have yet seen a full sized rig made with a flat bar type chassis !!

& yes U can get a lower chassis & a body for about the same price as a full bodyless chassis.
i have one !!

keep the freak show chassis out of the 2.2S class,
body's only.

keep them looking something like a real crawling rig,
not some mars rover looking thing

Riv and his wife are gonna have a little girl, and Riv is gonna do up all his crawlers in Pink in her honor! Isnt that sweet........

IDK, while I see can your point to a certain extent, this looks closer to the 1:1 crawlers (referred to as moon buggies) I'm used to seeing.

Than these (average bodied rigs) do.

I have nothing against bodied rigs, and it's still the driver that makes the biggest difference. I just don't see the need to exclude the bodiless rigs.

Less choice is not a good thing IMO and it hurts the vendors who have already invested in and support the class.

Gotta say I agree with Dez on this one. As much as I hate to say it, I think most of our bodiless rigs(not so much with the Frogger style chassis) look more like real rock buggy type crawlers as compared to what most bodied rigs look like now. If you go back a few years and look at the Bronco, Wrangler, Defender and truck bodies that everyone ran back then they looked more like a crawler than the comp style bodies everyone runs these days.
