Reached a stopping point when I noticed there wasn't any more spray parts cleaner around to make sure all of the shavings were cleared out. I had to drill the case part out in the lower picture to clear the axle tube. I drilled it to 9/32 for plenty of clearance. The weigh reduction is going to be a little over an oz. The whole truck weights 72.2 oz. without the battery currently. Weigh reduction is not going to be near the benefit as the lowered CG.

May wanna upgrade those bearings while your in there.

Everything looks great man, I can't wait to see it all back together.
 
The bearings still feel really smooth. I thought maybe the bearings were not real tight by the action of the ones in the knuckles. On closer inspection the slop is in the fit of the stub axle to the id of the bearing. Just by looking at the parts and noticing the tight tolerances of the gear cases. I don't think the cvd's were made by the same standards as the gear boxes and mating parts. The gear boxes are no less the amazing. I have never taken anything apart that fit so tight with irregular shapes. While the axles leave a bit to be desired.

Finished it up this morning. Need to work the length down a little bit. I am at 12 9\16. The weight is down to 70.3 ounces. A bit more loss than I had thought. 1.9 ounce loss. Now for the bad news. It has to be tore completely back apart. Tried torture testing it in rear dig on the carpet. The motor was running with no wheel movement.:roll: Looks like I'll have to pin the final gear to the axle.

Did you glue(JB weld) the final gear to the axle?

That's right Rowdy. I used Loctite 660. It is a sleeve retaining compound. I have used it before to fasten two pieces of axle together like the Losi tag kit. I have had no issue with it. Could be the material not wanting to stick to the Ti. Find out for sure when it comes apart.
 
Yep. Not sticking to the Ti.. I drilled though the two bearing surfaces on each side of the gear. Put a 2mm pin in each side as long as the ID of the bearing. Put the bearings on to retain the pic. Sorry no pics of this one. I got it back together and Pulled some reverse to forward wheelies on the carpet to try it out. It's still in one piece. Now I just need to work on a little bit of binding on the rear lower links. The rod ends are hitting the link mounts at the axle. Time to play with the dremel.
 
I run my rig through some courses today after making some changes to the link geometry and clocking. I tried using longer front upper links. This was a plus. It made the front much more stable improving turning up hill and side hill. Clocked the front motor down. Also an improvement. Wanted to remove some of the clocking from the c's and the servo stalling that others had noticed showed up. Hey Rowdy I want to try some of those arm extensions. If you still have some?

My friend Bob come up with a great idea.

Take another set of the knuckles, mill them down thin,
and bolt them to the original set to extend the bearing
surface to make these work. I thought my steering servo
was stalling out. It was only because the front axles are locking up.
I am expecting failure at any moment so I need to do something. Hopefully I'll get this together for Worlds.
If not I still have the old bullet proof Bully 1.

Cracked my BWD cab so I had to go with something else.
No response from them to get a replacement.
Tried the vendor section, e-mail, and PM to see if I could
purchase just a cab. Ended up using the cab from my Sudu
since the rules do not allow bodiless in s class.:roll: Fussed over
the links and geometry for way too long to get that extra 1/16" out.
Tried running only 2 ounces of weight on each knuckle weight. Decreased the dig turning radius,
but killed the momentum for those bump and climbs. Put it back to full heavy.
Put my silver voodoo's back on and noticed a bit less traction on steep climbs.
Everything else seemed a bit easier to manage since it was not grabbing on everything so much. Rear dig come back to being useful.
