I was an active member for a while and dropped off for many reasons. a few people may remember but I literally liquidated my crawler inventory...I think almost 8 scale cralwers and parts and unfinished stuff for a few reasons....may 6th 2012 in forest falls,ca while doing some scale crawling I folded my right foot completely under my entire weight(335lbs...yes im a big guy) and tore my calcaneofibular ligament completely in half,my anterior talofibular ligament almost completely in half,and my posterior talofibular ligament was torn slightly and tore away from the bone slightly. on top of all that I have permanent nerve and blood vessel damage. should I have gotten surgery? yes but my idiot doctor felt that a lifetime of pain,tingling sentations,foot falling asleep,and sometimes just lose the ability of controlling the up down movement is a better choice so its a to be continued deal,i toughed out the remander of the day but I should have just packed up and left instead of enduring 3 hours of pain. 21 days after that awesome day my wife and I welcomed our son hayden into the world and all I can say is if you don't have kids then you need to have some because they are awesome.
so one of the big reasons im back is I not only have the blessing of the wife but a new doctor to start doing some climbing around because lets face it,these crawlers are so fun and ive missed it a lot. only bummer is I will have to wear some really supportive braces on not only the right ankle that was destroyed last year but the left one as well because ive had bad ankles since my first ankle injury when I was 10....bad ankles are a lovely trait passed down to me by my father. so it looks like square one is where im starting again with crawling so ill be looking for deals on stuff as I go...little bummed that I cant seem to find any new hand brothers frame mounted servo kits or 3 link kits...almost like they quit doing them or something....any insight? anyways ill be on from time to time..cant wait to get sunburned on the trails.
