How to build a winch controller for less than $5.

When you use this sort of controller to work your winch, does it provide a "winch brake" when the winch isn't winding, or is it just the winch drive train that is resisting the pull on the line and stopping it from un-spooling?

In my experience, some of these boards have almost an active-brake, like trying to move a servo

So would this work with any 360 degree servo? The price is hard to beat, the few week shipping is what gets me lol. Im trying to find one comparably priced but that ships from the US.
Any continuous rotation servo should work.

This is awesome, for 5$ we can achieve what everyone sells us for 40$!!! Great find here man, and thanks for sharing it. Greatly appreciated!

I just built mine today, I can confirm it works and it works great! I wanted to see if a micro servo would work and it does and it's nice and compact. I just unsoldered the motor and soldered on a JST connector, hooked it up to a winch and it works great, no drift. I bought a four pack of these micro 360 degree servos for $17 bucks on Amazon, pretty cheap winch controllers for five or ten minutes of work. All I need to do now is conformal coat it and put some shrink tube on it and I'm done, well other than making three more lol.

does the voltage matter?

meaning if you have your bec set to 7.4, does the 7.2 volts depicted, affect the motor of the servo, or the board as well as motor, if the voltage is higher.

So I ordered the exact same picture servo, I just got mine and started ripping it apart and mine has a potentiometer and the board is soldered right to the motor, so mine are not 360 servos!!!! Just get ready for that guys haha
