How about some SCX24 transmission gear sets/whole transmission talk.

Hey all, I can’t find any transmission talk for the SCX24 so I’ll ask. My new Unity24 combo blew up my stock transmission, lol.
Is there any transmission gear sets/whole transmissions that people like more?

The 24 transmission is plenty simple ... Not much error to have unless there is a lot of play on the bearing retainers. I have the stock, regular injora and the helical, just recently picked up the zxyrc and the rzxylrc from amazon and they all have been good and smooth. The Unity24 is new and yet to be proven so I cant comment on that part but many have issues with the 24s burning motors due to overly tight wheel nuts. If too tight they tend to crush the bearings and create drag at the wheel ... given worm gears on the diffs they already create massive drag for your power system thus tight wheel nuts exacerbate the drag/load on your drivetrain.

I have the Meus iso axles so over tightening of the wheels isn’t an issue, I am aware of that though. I was very cautious with my stock axles. As fat as I can tell everything turns fine, I think I got a wheel bound and didn’t realize it till it made a bad sound. I wish I could have gotten a Stellar transmission with my Unity but for some reason Furitek doesn't offer it and you can’t buy it by itself…

I usually burn up motors but not the transmissions. I have a few cheap metal gear ones from Amazon that have done well over time. I am not easy on them but I will not give it gas if the wheel(s) are locked. My son on the other hand beats the snot out of them.

I guess the question now is which gears will give me an underdrive. I wish I could remember what all those threads I read were saying about gearing. That stuff gets all jumbled in my head, lol. Off to the search bar for me.

Underdrive gears are usually in the axles themselves. I have treal in one and cheapy under and overdrives in the others. Both work fine. Just make sure to shim them correctly. I do not remember what size they were though.

I run a Powerhobby 15% front overdrive transmission in a AX24 build . Pretty happy with it . Just make sure the gears on the bottom don’t rub the skid .

I just installed the 1/12T , 33% underdrive gears in the rear axle and the 2/18T , 11% Underdrive gears to get a 22% front overdrive.

In this rig I am running the Mofo torque beast 030 motor due to no room for a 050 motor because of double bent front and rear links so I figured to go low as possible with the gearing.

The 22% front overdrive pulls well in forward but you definitely see the push when you go in reverse.

As far as heavy duty transmissions go , Little guy racing has a heavy duty stock type transmission and their own transmission with different gearing options available.

I forgot about the Injora options. I have the Meus iso axles and the front worm gears are proprietary to deal with the silly turning radius. That’s why I was wondering what the options for an under driven transmission.
I remember reading about whether the .5 mod gears were and increase or decrease in rpms to the axles and what the gearing is for the different rpm out puts from the different toothed gears. I have been looking everywhere but I can’t find it.
I’ll check out the little guy stuff, thanks for the recommendations.

I’m really liking the look of the LGRP MR24 with the over all under drive but it looks like it mounts the motor kinda high and it is it picky on what motors fit. I have a Unity24 so I think I’m good on fitment.

So it looks like the Meus iso axles are both overdriven compared to stock so if I get the LGRP transmission I linked right above it will be back to “normal” drive speeds and then I can underdrive the rear end with the Meus supplied worm gears.
It looks like Meus is making different worm gears for tue front now but they are all overdrive…
All I want is to go slower, why is that so hard, lol.
I am going to get the fancy LGRP transmission I linked. Should be fun customizing the skid plate to fit it.
It’s kind of funny, I had just put in my Unity24 and was thinking, sweet now I only have to buy parts if I break something, lol. I was very confident with my build so far and honestly didn’t think I would need to replace anything soon… I blew up the transmission while I was still testing my motor. I actually laughed out loud at my self when I pulled the transmission apart. So now I will put the fancy transmission in and say to myself “sweet, now I only have to buy parts when I break something”.

Sweet! I just ordered the LGRP MR24 with the fifteen percent gearing reduction. I also said why the heck not and got the fancy billet skid plate that is all set up for the transmission. After this all that is stock will be links, chassis rails and the body which has been cut a bit.
My plan is to only upgrade when something breaks so who knows when I will get to the links or chassis.
I hope you all have a great day.
