HobbiCo / Great Planes / Tower Hobbies

Reminds me of when the Hobbico bankruptcy broke and a bunch of people were going "OMG!!! What's going to happen to Futaba?!?!?" When the reality was that Hobbico was merely their US distributor and Futaba could likely buy Hobbico about 100 times over if they wanted to.

LOL Im surprised Futaba didnt just say 'hand the keys over, your debts more then you're worth' :lmao:

So omnimodels is done(speculating here) they just emailed me that Horizon purchased their customer email list, and as part of the purchase I can opt out.

Little pricks gave you a whopping 24 hours to opt out either by email or snail mail.:flipoff:

Why do people think it's so black and white, just because Horizon own a few brands and got more with buying Hobbico, does not mean they are just going to shut X brand down in favor of another brand they own:lmao:

Look at the real car market, how many brands does the VAG group own, or FIAT or even TATA, they don't suddenly shut down production because this car is in competition of their own brands.

Vaterra and Axial might be owned by the same corporation now, that does not mean the two brands can't live side by side, but still be independent to a certain degree, and don't under estimate the power of the brand loyalty each has;-)

I would assume that Axial has WAY bigger market share than Vaterra, so going by that alone, IF they HAD to shut one down, it would be Vaterra going not Axial.......but lets hope this buyout has an effect on shitbox jeeps on Axials going forward:lmao:

 You ok?

Distributorship and Company Ownership are two TOTALLY different things.

And Yes Dlux OWNS the SAF gears - he may not physically make them but they are made for him thus giving him Ownership of them.

btw - in case you missed Rich's post ..... Nope, Not True and hes got more intel into the plants then I ever will LOL. ;-)

Basically, it's his way of saying he's wrong without actually admitting it... :lmao:

SOP marketing disclaimer. You hiding sumthin out in the shed Bubba ????

Hang up and Drive

I used to work for a company called Novar controls. We did commercial big box retail HVAC and lighting controls. It was bought up by Honeywell. We just kept to ourselves and had to bid against Honeywell for other jobs. The fun part was that we would drop our number to beat them when they in fact owned us. Never made sense to me but we did it anyway LOL. This could very well be the same.

Corporate America at its best ..... Big bid makes profit, low bid gets the job and is a write off for the Big company.

P&L side of it the buy out is probably a good thing for Hobbico come tax season. Any loss on investment helps for a few years.

Yup, made by Robinson for his sole distributorship. Nobody else can get them since dlux owns the design and Robinson won't make them for anyone else.

As for the buyouts time will tell where the chips fall. Hopefully everything shakes out for the better of all those involved.

Horizon is out at some hobby show this weekend and they are already putting some of their newly acquired product lines (Realflight and Futaba) in their booth.

Interesting... I wonder if this is temporary for Futaba or if they are going to hammer out a long-term distribution deal with Horizon.
