HobbiCo / Great Planes / Tower Hobbies

I posted this comment on an Instagram post but thought i'd share it here too.

It's going to be interesting how the transition and integration of brands and employees takes place but please know that Horizon is not investing into a buy out of Hobbico just to dismantle it.

I'm very happy where i work and with what our leadership has done to make us a healthy company, putting us in a position to take advantage of a situation like this. I could have easily been on the other side. (in fact I was for a short time lol)

That being said there is a ton of things that have to happen and it's still way early in the process. It's going to be an interesting next 6-12 months internally at Horizon.

I'll also note that I don't have more info to share and likely won't be able to share everything even when i do know but i'm truly excited for the future and can't wait to see and be part of what happens next.

I'm interested to see what happens. Hopefully those in charge know that there are going to be unhappy customers if the Ascender is killed.

What if it was killed for an Ascender II? 8)
That would be dope. My wish list would be a front mount motor, factory 2 speed, and option to build with or without portals. Most importantly, a kit version without body, electronics, wheels or tires. "thumbsup"

So a TRX4? With options

I think Rich mentioned in another thread that there would be no portal axles.

wait so this... "merge"... are the ascender and SCX10 going to be... STEP BROTHERS?!

Here is how this shyte is going to go down.

1)Horizon discontinues the scx10/scx10ii
2)Axial fanboys cry and scream
3)An ascender II is put on the market(yeah just an ascender but they put on a Jeep body)
4)Axial fanboys stop crying, cause you know its a Jeep

ask a hobby shop.. any hobby shop.. where do they get their AE products from currently? to me that's who owns a brand.

btw.. AE and TLR kit plastics are for sure made in the same plant now.

take Dlux for example. does he physically own the berg SAF gears? no, maybe, I don't care. he is the only person that I know of that sells those gears.

but in all reality its just my opinion right?

but get this.. the only time an opinion is right is right now when I type this next sentence.

the only 2 real things in this universe that are true is TIME and MATTER and when they correlate. everything else is an opinion.

the hard pills to swallow: sxc10.2 axles will never ever come with an ascender right out of the box in anyway shape or form before the box gets sealed at the end of packaging in the plant it originates from.

Dude, please just stop spreading false information. That's how newbies get mislead and bad information gets spread. See below. Even Rich, from Horizon, confirmed this isn't true. Your news is fake news.

Most of the guys in our group own both an ascender and a SCX10ii. Don't make it sound like there are two camps at war on every track. The unanimous decision is that the axial is better for aftermarket. Ascenders are great right out of the box. Stretch them out a bit and start crawling. The merger will show up eventually, but I don't think it will be bad. The trucks sitting side by side are VERY similar. On the course where the axial struggles the ascender thrives. Where the ascender struggles, the axial rolls through. Merge a few things and it will only make them better. Now design changes can be made without stepping on any toes over patent and design infringements! Unless it is traxxas. They sue everyone LOL.

Distribution is not the same thing as ownership.

Reminds me of when the Hobbico bankruptcy broke and a bunch of people were going "OMG!!! What's going to happen to Futaba?!?!?" When the reality was that Hobbico was merely their US distributor and Futaba could likely buy Hobbico about 100 times over if they wanted to.

 You ok?

Distributorship and Company Ownership are two TOTALLY different things.

And Yes Dlux OWNS the SAF gears - he may not physically make them but they are made for him thus giving him Ownership of them.

btw - in case you missed Rich's post ..... Nope, Not True and hes got more intel into the plants then I ever will LOL. ;-)
