Horizon is a scary thought..... monopoly will eliminate many products in streamlining..... duratrax could die

Monopoly how? Just because they'll be a large distributor that owns a few brands doesn't mean it's a monopoly. There are other distributors out there.

Exactly. Horizon buying Traxxas afterwards, or vice versus, would be more monopolistic.

Of all the companies, you worry about Duratrax. Who cares about them? There isn't much that they make that's worth keeping. The rest of the stuff can just get new stickers put on it.

I hope Horizon buys them. There isn't a better RC company out there currently. They can fix all of Axial's issues.

I have to agree, I generally found that the Horizon owned product lines were generally better than those of Hobbico. The Never was much of a Duratrax vehicle or Electrifly aircraft fan, disliked the Arrma 2wd trucks after actually having to wrench on them, their batteries and chargers were decent, but not really any better than Dynamite's offerings, at least as of when I switched jobs in the summer of 2016. Didn't care that much for the Duratrax paint, planning on sticking with Pactra and Model Master lacquers as well as Mopar Touch Up for rattle can paints no matter what happens with those..........and yes, the Model Master Lacquer and Mopar sprays do work on lexan. I've heard that Estes is in going "Back" to Estes and that Revell has another company that is run by model people that is seriously interested in them.

WTF ? I mentioned one brand that sell huge numbers across the boards at many LHSs.

Duratrax RC paint is quite good, and available locally. I use a good number of Horizon Hobby tools for one, and competition is always a motivating force in retail.

But of course us internet experts will debate utter nonsense as none of us has the stones........

Overly sensitive response. Not typical of you. You alright?

I asked a simple question. I was awaiting your input. It's as simple as that. Nothing more.

I forgot about the paints. I love Duratrax paint and use it all the time. I also have some of their tools.

Tower, Great Plains has chosen a niche hobby market, the business plan is to fill the entire gamut, RTR, Parts to buil, tools, materials , in a number of niches.
Plastic models, RC cars/trucks, Airplanes, Boats, Trains, ...... you get the point. Tower did it with existing name brands, Horizon has its own style and niche, but a different goal than Great Plains , IMHO.
That said I’m clueless, this was an initial bid, who knows what else will surface, International buyers cash is also good.
I’m grabbing Beer and pretzels and sittin a spell on it.

I can't believe all the bullshit on Facebook about the purchase being official already. Shit does't happen that fast in cases like this. Even agreements to buy companies are often stopped for various reasons.

That and the bankruptcy court still has to authorize the sale if Horizon's bid is accepted.

The article from the local paper covering this story said a hearing to approve bids from the auction was scheduled for 3/28. It is very possible the court has approved the bid if that hearing went as scheduled. Even still, the purchase would not be finalized until early April as a best case scenario.

It reminds me of when everyone thought that the T-Mobile/AT&T merger was a done deal until the courts said otherwise.
