hillbilly's LOW RANGE inspired cab swapped bronco

Changing things up a bit ordered some new axles and some of them new choodoo 4.19s. As well as some injora wheels already mounted.

Should help change some things enough to get some of my issues fixed. I have been having issues that has made it not fun to finish. That great mix of parts has been working against me at least axle and wheel/tire combo wise so I got parts to fix both. So might try one at a time and see if I can find a happy medium. Also I can use what I don't use here and put them in to my other cheap f150 trail truck.

Looks like my axles will be here sooner than my wheel/tire combo. Looking forward to rebuilding this even tho it isn't finished in the first place.

The other part 4.19 choodoos and injora beadlocks. These wheels are much better quality than the other set I have with the austar TSLs. The size difference is not much but should make a big difference. TSLs are 4.3 and the KLRs are 4.19.

Last night I started the tear down for the new axles. First I wanted to compare my austar TSLs and my new choodoos KLRs.

Side by side there is only a slight difference in height. The more noticeable difference is side by side showing the width difference.

After tires were off and compared next came removing my hybrid redcat/axial axles. The new wheel and tire combo fit these axles very well. Only downfall is at 4.19 and such a large and flat center section I don't see this truck getting around well.
With old axles

Without. Back down to nothing almost.

Now to axles comparison such a big difference in size.
In the front since I'm running a longer shock I'm going to mount the shock down with the lower links

In the rear to help with shocks I'm going to mount them up top on the link mounts.

Also I tapped the link mounts to use m3 instead of m2.5 just for a tad bit of strength.

And I'm working no something different for a front mount trans not sure if it will work out or not.

Finally got axles mounted.

Need to make a panhard, I might try a see is the SSD panhard link will work. I had to flip my hobao panhard mount to the passenger side since the front injora axle the axle side mount is on the opposite side of the scx10.2. this should work out well. Recently I had moved the servo to the passenger side when I tried tucking the bumper.
Also in the pic you can see that the side plates I made before are gone. I did a crap job and will improve those. I have a idea I think will work great and give me a stout base for the cab to mount and lots of space for mounting electronics and battery.

I trimmed the fenders a tad more even with the 4.19 they rubbed.

Had to test fit my driver and he fits without seats. So I will have to make some seats out of some aluminum.

I figured out how I want to mount the interior. I need to cut out my new side rails then trim the center out to fit around the t-case and drivelines.

I didn't like the gap the flat bed left so I decided to fill it.

Finished it up looks cleaner and will look better after things are painted. Also been getting the sliders figured out.

I'm just lovin the stance and look of your rig hillbilly. The wheels and Injora KLR's look perfect on it.

Yup, looks just right. And I’ve enjoyed watching your build and your decisions.

I had the same back-and-forth with those same two pairs of Choodoos, lol. Don’t much like the compound of those TSL knock-offs, but they got much better after being hit with some purple cleaner, at least for he first run afterward yesterday. On the other hand, they make me pay a lot more attention to how I drive with regard to maintaining traction (in the loamy stuff, especially).

Again thanks for the kind words.

Been making more progress on this, with the full interior and limited space under the hood, I needed to make a floor. I used some .025 aluminum sheet. Still need to take more pics as I have trimmed it up. As well as made cut outs for the trans to t-case driveshaft, the frame rails, and the t-case itself. All in order to get the cab to sit low enough that its inline with the roll bar and the grill is flat on the front bumper. The flooring will be used to mount the sliders, interior pan, esc, and battery. Maybe a servo winch too.

I'll get more recent pics tonight.

Here is how I was able to drop everything down and have plenty of space to mount electronics.

My plan to mount the interior pan and think I'll velcor the pan to the L brackets for easy access to the battery and service.
