Have tech questions? Will answer.

Thanks, there's very little info on the magnums, aside from a coulple Holmes videos on YouTube. Couldn't find any real running videos of one in action showing a slow start/crawl. I'm kind of still torn between a revolver or a magnum. Possibly just a regular crawlmaster 550 pro .Couple guys I run with have the revolvers and they are cool .
If the sound isn't an issue the revolver is the way to go in my opinion. It probably the most torque and is less than half the price. It also has excellent startup.

I love my Revolver 1800KV motor as well but I would advise using it with a Mamba X for the aux wire function. If I'm bashing in crawl mode the sound when the drag brake comes in is harsh. No problem when crawling however.

I use a 9T pinion on my TRX-4 so I would imagine that the 1400KV would have been pretty close to fast enough on 3S with the stock 11T pinion. Even with 2S the Revolver seems to have plenty of power.

How does a 540 magnum compare to a 550 crawlmaster pro?

A crawlmaster pro is a little more active motor, it will make more power and have more area to dissipate heat. The Magnum starts extremely smooth and has better torque density and drag brake. Either one is a mighty fine choice. If you aren't limited in mounting length or trying to save a little weight, the 550 will perform very well.

My ESC fails in contact with water,
I have the Holmes Hobbies TrailMaster BLE Pro
pretty annoying because I can't follow other guys. even a small splash makes the ESC fail
Could you recommend a tutorial for waterproofing
do you know if MG Chemicals Silicone Modified Conformal Coating may help for waterproofing?

Yes conformal coating will stop it.

You can also use clear nail polish. I use it on anything electronic that has to stay outdoor like garden lights, speakers, switches, etc.
It prevents the boards from rusting and oxidizing.

You can even put the nail polish on solar cells to prevent the plastic from oxidizing and becoming opaque and whiteish

Hey John,

I settled on a revolver and Mamba X. However I am getting a lot of cogging. Much like this video I found : https://youtu.be/6SOR6HMPQZM. Its on a scx10.2 stock spur wit 12t pinion. I'll admit I have not gone in and set up the ESC with a castle link yet (don't have one yet). Will a throttle curve and other settings shown on your youtube video fix this issue or do I have something else wrong?

A throttle curve will definitely help but I am curious, since you got the Mamba X why didn't you get a sensored motor to go with? That will have the biggest effect towards eliminating cogging...

The Mamba X series and the newer Sidewinder4 will work wonders with the sensorless Revolver...

I have zero cogging on a 3S (sometimes 4S) powered Bomber running the 1800kv Revolver and a Mamba X.

I used the setup shown in the Holmes Hobbies YouTube video - works like a charm:

Post up electronics tech questions and I'll do my best to answer them until I burn out. It would be great to have some distractions from the circus of memes on facebook.

I'll start first. HOw are the electronics on the TRX-4?

answer: Servos are easy to burn out, steering servo is undersized for the weight, needs at least 300oz/in. ESC and motor are adequate, but don't have much control getting through a bind.
how do i wire a arduino to 3 esc's

I'm building a crawl-focused SWB Bomber that should be about ~8# with a tubular SS chassis , AR44's (OD front), and a Wraith tranny wih dig. I'll be running 4s with a BRXL and a CM Pro 550 12T.

What Spur/Pinion combo? Preferably 48P, I think.

I would get an 80t spur, then you have room to play with a wide range of inexpensive pinions. Start with 15t

Right...I just remembered that I have your gearing spreadsheet downloaded already "thumbsup"

I'll plug some numbers in

I have a HH Puller Pro and a HH BLE Pro, I had them in an Axial SCX10.2 and have taken them out and put them in my Associalted Sendero kit. When I set it up forward was reverse and vice versa, so I reversed the settings on my Spectrum radio. The issue I have is the settings are all reversed, eg, I have 50% forward and 100% reverse. How do I fix this???

You should be able to reverse your motor settings in your ESC programming using the Castle Link... there is a "Motor Direction" setting.

Pretty sure the Enduro transmission rotates reversed from normal.

On mine, I just swapped the motor wires - but that's with the stock brushed setup. Don't swap wires on a sensored brushless!

Castle Link, reverse the motor rotation.
