Hacked up Newbright TJ (first rig and post!)

The rig is looking great...i bookmarked your thread so i can read through it. The steering is nuts!

Personally i think the 2.2's are too big. It still looks bad to the bone and i bet it's a blast to drive...just seems way out of scale to me.

Thank you! It's just that the 1.9s seem too small though? I'm wondering if the one-off rims are making an optical illusion? But then again, i haven't found any dovetailed newbright tj's with wraith axles. Anyone else? haha I should make a poll

Re: !*!*!*!GIVEAWAY!*!*!*! CreationFab Pre-Fabbed Wide Splined housing V2

hrrmmm... i might have to bring the scx axles back...

Sucks man...i have a set of the AR60's too. They need the right size body imo.

I think the SCX axles look way better on the Jeep bodies (even with the 2.2's) . The dove tail rear makes it very noticeable on width.

It's still an awesome Jeep either way you go!

I might entertain myself and make the front links a little longer... i also thought... maybe i should get some rims with a negative offset? I always felt that the ax10 axles were too narrow. I think maybe if I get 90mm shocks too it will help.

oops, i think i mean positive offset wheels

Also, I just realized that the one-off rims that are on there have a lot of negative offset. the inside of the rim is touching the axle housing without any "overhang"

Ha....nice catch, i knew what you meant. That would help alot i think.

What was the offset of the rims you had with the 1.9's?

I've got a New Bright 1:10 Jeep body on Wraith Axles with 2.2 Ripsaws and I think it looks a bit like a toy than a scale vehicle. I'll try to get some pics up tonight. I think a 1:8 Jeep body may look better.

Here it is so far. I've never looked at photos of it before but upon inspection it actually looks a little bit ridiculous! I've gotta put wheel wells and fix the trunk space still. Haven't committed on cutting the frame down yet either. Actually there's a bunch of stuff that needs repair. If I shorten the wheelbase any more I'm worried the driveshafts will bind. So either larger body ($$) or MIP driveshafts and shorter wheelbase? Don't know if the MIP's allow for tighter bends. The present wheelbase is 11 5/8" (29.5cm for us Canucks).

YAY! Three hours of noob hacking to get these two pics up. Should take ten minutes next time. Yo Joe! Also I think your rig looks sweet with 2.2's.

see, i think this looks sweet, other than the things you already mentioned. I think my problem is that it's sitting maybe 10mm too tall and that i need rims with the right offset. cuz mine just looks hellaciously too wide! yours seems perfect as far as geometry is concerned, albeit on the the "extreme side" as with all 2.2 on scx10 framed vehicles will look. what rims are those?

but yeah, i wouldn't shorten the wheelbase. i would just comp cut the "trunk space" like you said, and move the body back about a quarter inch if at all possible. I'd just cut the frame... the only thing you'll ever use it for would be a bumper, in which case you can make the bumper tabs however long you need them if you braze em up yourself

also, maybe my 2.2s are too tall? i want something taller than the 1.9 boggers, but maybe a bit shorter than the 2.2 rok lox... maybe 1.9 baja claws? i really think it's an offset problem though
