Guido: Scale TTC Bronco 2013 Updates
Thanks guys! I like the color too. I was going to go back to purple but the automotive paint is expensive and I don't want to spend the money in it right now. Plus time is a factor at this point. Shane the engine enamel sounds like a good idea. I have not tried heat curing it but sounds like it would work well.
Got the Waterproofing done on the Trailmaster ESC and motor.
After the conformal coating the board is generously coated with black RTV.
Then it is placed back in the bottom half of the case. I then make sure RTV gets everywhere on the top of the board and all around the heat sink. The ESC is not sealed to the bottom of the case. This is makes the second layer of waterproofing. Installing the top half of the case does not help with waterproofing but I put it on anyway.
The sensor plug will get RTV after I plug in the wire.
On the motor I RTV around the sensor plug and the bottom of the board. I also add some extra around the sensor plug opening in the end of the case.
RTV in the sensor board screw holes just for good measure.
Then the sensor board screws are installed.
A small bead around the front end of the can and it gets installed.
A small bead around the back end of the can and then the motor can be assembled.
No pictures of the process because my hands get covered in RTV and I don't want to touch my phone until I am cleaned up. Haha
A thin bead around the motor contacts.
The last step is to figured out which mounting holes you will use and plug the others. Some 3mm set screws with Loctite on them does the job.
Now the electronics are ready for submarine duty. Do not try this yourself unless you are prepared to void any warranty. If you have doubts about doing this yourself have Holmes Hobbies do the waterproofing. I have been doing this for years and figured out a system that works reliably.
