GT3B Hack Question and Answer Thread

Disconnect your motor and pull or push the trigger.

awesome, thanks man, will give this a try in an hour or so when I get home "thumbsup"
It's on a brushless e-revo so the part about disconnecting the motor sounds very wise.
Such a simple fix..but yea I did not try the throttle due to fly-away e-revo, and had not needed to use the throttle to set any of the others.

Duh
thanks

When I made my order a while back he was building kits he's pretty busy. I emailed him back through the confirmation email I got from overkill. He responded within a day. Let me know he was in the process of filling ordered.

It finally shipped over 10 days later without any communication. I emailed from the confirmation email, the email on the website and through PayPal twice. If he was busy it's cool. That's all he had to say. I'm just glad I'll be getting the kit finally.

I'm currently in the same situation, purchased mine about 9 days ago and emailed here and through the confirmation email as well with no reply. Hopefully my circumstance ends the same as yours lol. If not, well then there isn't much I can do. I still think he does/has great work with these kits for us in the hobby. Could he shoot an email, maybe, but also this is his side project so being understanding is key.

Where can I get my hands on one of these prehacked radios? Every time I look for them they're out of stock. What all should I order? I'm to the point on my build that I need to find one asap so it doesn't halt my progress.

I just recently flashed the firmware on both a Flysky GT3b and a Turnigy GTX3. The first one took a bit of time to setup but once I knew what was required the second one was just pop the top, solder in the header, flash, pop the top on, and it only took a couple of minutes.

The parts that it required from ebay was quite cheap, a pack of header pins and a usb flasher (Have more header pins then I could EVER hope to use D: )

if you need it asap. why not mod one by yourself it's easy if you can solder and follow instructions.

I'm totally intimidated by this type of soldering.lol. Soldering is far from one of my strengths when it comes to working on my rigs.

Hey everybody, I'm sorry about the shitty service and ship times the last couple years and it's been especially bad this year. I'm usually only home about 8 hours a day and I sleep for most of that. Hopefully that'll change here in a month or two. If it doesn't I'll be shutting down OverkillRC...I might open back up again in the future (or keep it open) but most of my free time will be dedicated to an Ultra4 race buggy for the foreseeable future. So, unless I have time to ship within a day and answer the 20+ emails I get daily I probably won't open back up.

With that said, I have a **** load of un-hacked GT3C's sitting in my storage room. I'm going to try and get 5 or so flashed every week for the next few weeks till they are gone. So if you've been waiting for a pre-hacked this may be your last chance. I'm hoping to post the first batch at the end of next week. I think I also have a bunch of rx's, GT3C batteries, and external charges I need to unload.

If I close down for good, I'll put together a list of links of where to buy all the parts to flash your radio and instructions on how to mod the programming card...and figure out how to maintain all the downloadables I have now without costing me too much monthly to host it all. I priced my kits to be about the same as if you were to buy everything separately (including shipping), so there shouldn't be a big price leap. Just less convenient.

So I have read through almost every single page of this thread, and I have come across something that hasn't been asked. I have followed the instructions to the T and when I try to program my GT3B, the STVP software pops up with "the device is protected"

HELP!!!!!!!!

A read protection is on, a window will pop up reading the "Device is Protected." I don't have the STVP software in front of me, but that's a good place to start.

Just received a new GT3B and soldered a 4 pin header on the board.
All looks fine and dandy.
When I connect the board to my PC and run the "ST Visual Programmer"
get the beeps and flashing "green" LED all great. Do the configuration.
Still good.
NOW when I try to load the "gt3b-0.6.1 s19" firmware I get an error
saying "FILE: Line 7: Not in Motorola S19 format".
I have tried numerous downloads of the firmware with the same result
every time.
Can anyone help? Or at least point me to a good copy of the firmware.
Thanks in anticipation

Yes. One of my D/Ls is from there.
Tell me, BAD RC, What size should the file be.
I have three conflicting sizes.

Hum, interesting... The file I have is The known working file I have D/L from and continue to use is 62.0 KB from Index of /GT3B/GT3B-Firmware/0-6-1/ which loaded correctly on the STVP loader.

I tried the file from github, and got the same Error : FILE : line 7: Not in Motorola S19 format! when I tried to load it.

Here are the results from the STVP programming window.

GITHUB FILE > Loading file C:\C:\*****\RC\FLYSKY HACK\gt3b-0.6.1.s19 in PROGRAM MEMORY area ...
Error : FILE : line 7: Not in Motorola S19 format!
Error : < File loading failed.

OVERKILLRC FILE > Loading file C:\*****\RC\FLYSKY HACK\XXXgt3b-0.6.1.s19 in PROGRAM MEMORY area ... (Ignor the XXX, kept the files in same folder.)
< File successfully loaded. File Checksum 0x26C9BC

BTW, been running Windows 7 but I know it has been done on Win 10.

This my readout now using same F/W as you:-
"Hardware configuration set to <ST-LINK on USB with STM8S105x6 plugged in and SWIM protocol>.
Blank check before programming (when available) is OFF
Verify after programming is ON.
Clear memory before loading a file is ON.
Erase device memory before programming (when available) is OFF
Display a popup window when an error occurs is ON.
Log activity is OFF
> Loading file C:\Users\User\Documents\GT3B\gt3b-0.6.1 (4).s19 in PROGRAM MEMORY area ...
< File successfully loaded. File Checksum 0x26C9BC"

But now I get the error:-

"Cannot communicate with the board.
Wrong board selection or check board power supply or check that a
previous session is closed."

I am losing my mind. It´s probably something so obvious that I
cannot see it.
Also the video I saw on youtube
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4M-rQ7lkWMg
says you should de-solder the SB1
and SB2 bridges (at 1.54) but in the manual
http://www.overkillrc.com/GT3B/GT3B Hack Kit Install Instructions, Draft 2.1.pdf
Step 9 shows the bridges soldered.
This doing my head in.
Also should the beeper be going constantly while the USB is connected?
