A few days ago I mounted the VP knuckles from the Wraith Stage 1 Kit to my Bomber on which I was running Axial universals. Surprisingly I found that there was a lot of radial play/slop. I needed to add 1.4 mm on one side and 1.35mm of shims so the fit was tight. Did anyone else experience the same? The fit of the bearings in the knuckles was perfect.

I'm using the exact same setup without shims, I kinda assumed the slip was normal...

I've been running VP Wraith stage one on my Bomber with Axial uni's for a long time now without any shims and zero problems.

Everyone has their own idea of acceptable play/slop. That you set yours to the hundredth of a mm indicates that you like things to be precise, as do I. Many people only see it as a problem when/if the axle or U-joint completely fails. I have to believe the U-joints wear better and last longer if the outer stub shaft is shimmed to properly align the U-joint pivot with the steering pivot.
