Drill press rim mod's with VP hubs

Hey there, great mod!

Where are you guys getting your vp hubs from? Vanquish only or any where else? Are there sets, or just buying multiples of 2 for each size? Any other makers out there like these.....

I have a lot of old buggy wheels/tire and t-maxx wheels/tires that I would like to use and this is a great way to do it!

Thanks"thumbsup"
I get all my VP hubs from my LHS and yes they only come in sets of two.Another place is RPPhobbies.

Thanx mr. V..... Did this mod to my stock axial wheels. Goat 2s has way too much torque for the stock plastic ones

Well played around with the drill press yesterday on some 1.9 Axial rim for my scaler, needed a little wider rim to fell out the tire and make the over all look better,it the same time it help with the side hill performance of these tires a well with less roll over a few pics.

Stock was 3\4 now 1 1\8

Some nice dmp faces.

So you can see a much fuller looken tire.

Don't forget all you 1.9 comp crawlers this is a great mod for you also.

Digging the 1.9s. In that first pic you have a clear ring. Was that going to be an inner ring or some other functionality?

Yea they will be used on these rims that one in the pic was a tester. To do the face and rings you will need a 2 3\8 and a 1 1\2 hole saw,the center hole is the same as the 2.2 15\32.

Well here we go with some more modding,so i run out of rim to cut up so i desided to make my own interbead lock ring.First you will need a 2 3/4,2 3/8,1 3/4in holesaw and some 1/4in pvc.
drillpress044.jpg

Start with the 1 3/4in
drillpress045.jpg

Then move to the 2 3/8in before you start mark the hole saw to a depth of 5mm, this is for the bead grove.p.s take your time.
drillpress047.jpg

Now go to your 2 3/4in with this cut you will be going all the way through.
drillpress048.jpg

Next take a old bead lock ring and use it as your guide.

drillpress050.jpg

After drilling your first 2 hole put some 3mm bolts to keep it lined up.

drillpress052.jpg

The next step is a little tricky you will need to take off 2mm off the outer edge i use 2 pieces of skap for this, then slowly turn down in a clock whas routation sorry for the bad spelling.

And there you have it .P.S. If you like this style of rim and can't do it your self you can get ahold of Erik of Erik D-lux he would be more then happy to sell you a pair.

I was wondering when you were gonna run out of rims to cut up. Very nice. Gotta get home from vacation now and get some more wheels made!

Awesome to see that this is possible to do with simple tools!! I've been thinking about doing something along these lines, or doing one using an internal beadlock like the VP SSZ's

So i ran the open air rims on my 1.9 scaler at a comp sunday and on one of the courses there was a lot of water so the test was on ,they work out really well i think better then just vented rim the water came out quickly and by the end of the courses they were pretty much dry"thumbsup"

Here is another one for you, looking at all the scrapes laying around i was thinking there has to be something i could do with it all  i have 1/8,1/4 and 3/8 pieces so this is what i came up with WHEEL SPACERS all you need is a 15/32 drill bit and a 1.1/8 hole saw and i cleaned up the work area too.

This is just one of many.

I used a old vp hub to drill the holes.
