Drill press rim mod's with VP hubs

i scored a set of 1.9 8hole beadlocks thru a trade, thought id apply the scale treatment.

used an RC4wd 1.9 pin hub to use as hole markers. (its a shame the moulds on the front of the rim are 8. not 6)

used my drill press with a hole saw attachment as my mill... lol rough, but it works.

and the final product with the RC4wd 1.9 brake disc hubs mounted.

Those came out great and I think the slightly smaller bolt circle diameter of the RC4WD hubs looks better and is should be stronger than the VP hub setup!

as far as I know the Rc4wd hubs are the same bolt circle size as the VP stuff. the Rc4wd disc hubs fit the Axial 2.2 trail ready rims, as do the VP hubs.

hope that helps.

Yes, that helps...somebody told that the VP was a slightly larger BCD and I didn't have both on hand to check. "thumbsup"

HR (Hot Racing) and RC4WD are the same if you drill out the 2mm holes in HR to 2.5mm and use larger hardware, then you can use pin or hex hubs and the larger hardware hold the beadlock together better and is much harder to strip. Plus RC4WD has different offset hex hubs too.

The VP hubs I have are different (larger BC) than the 1.9 steelie pin hubs from rc4wd and are also different than the 2.0 GH and CAC soft 8 and BAMF hubs.

So they def. are not the same as 1.9s .. Do they use different sizing for the 2.2's ????

Im not sure what you have man but they arent 100% identical so in that sense you are correct. Im sure I have a thread on here somewhere with an exact comparison and theyre close enough for me with plastic rims to swap in and out. I only have rc4wd hubs so cant compare direct to Vp but I cant get past the fact that the axial 2.2s fit up with vp hubs and the rc4wd ones also fit the same holes.
Rc4wd 2.2 hubs are way bigger than the 1.9 and the 1.7 are the same pcd as 1.9 but have different thread and hub size.
Hope that helps.

That sounds about correct, thanks for clarification and iirc that is what somebody told me. :lmao:"thumbsup" Either way sweet mod, thanks to Klampykixx for posting how to with pics!

random browsing is good. My stock 1.9's (bought em used) are starting to round out due to alum hexes and powa!

Looks like this mod is a must do.

As to on 2.2's, what's the way to best keep overall track down? I don't want my AR60 axles much wider than they are now

i had 2.2 trail ready (axial) rims with the RC4wd 1.9 size disc hubs and axial narrow(scx style) hexes. kept it fairly narrow . for a wraith. im sure you could run Short course style rims for even narrower offset but then you move into the odd bead sizes..
