Here's how I make my Y-cables (Y-cords)
This will also work as a servo splitter, but there's no way to have seperate trims...
First, a list of things you will need, if you'd like to follow along.
Wire, 3 colors, Futaba color codes. Red is power, Black is "ground," and White is the signal.
Crimpers. These aren't just any crimpers. They are special made to crimp the DuPont pins.
DuPont connector kit. I got this along with the crimpers from Amazon. If anyone cares, I'll dig thru my purchases and post a link.
Wire cutters/strippers. While one kind of strippers will surely get you into trouble, we'll need the kind that remove insulation from wire.
An assortment of shrink tube will come in handy...
Also necessary (but not shown) is a soldering iron, and a clean work area...
Step one...Strip back a small bit of wire. An 1/8 is too much. More like 3/32. .090"
Break off a pin from the tree, and load it into the crimper. These things are finiky, but I think I got 'em figured out.
Load the part of the pin that grips the insulated part of the wire against the step in the crimper. Seems to work for me.
Insert the wire until you see it come to be about flush with the other side.
Crimp.
Check to see if the crimp was successful. If not, cut the wire, and repeat as necessary. (That's why I start with this part)
Insert the pin into the DuPont connector, give it a slight tug after the "click" to make sure it's seated.
Repeat for all three wires.
Next I cut the wires for the length I need the harness to be.
Strip back 1/8 or so, and tin the ends. Wile the soldering iron is hot, I tin the DuPont pin header, which is simply two pieces glued together.
Solder everything in the proper order....I like to start with the Red wire, because it's in the middle, and probably the hardest to solder. Then I hit the remaining two after adding shrink wrap.
One more piece of shrink tube and twist the wires, VIOLA!
