Customizing my SSD Pro44 axle

Holy cow that looks AMAZING! Awesome work! "thumsup"

What issues does the printed diff cover have?

It's funny to me that the paint is called Email Color. I don't understand that name. Are you supposed to paint your emails with it? LOL

Thank you for your compliments!
Yes, this color is meant to make your emails look nice :ror:
Joking aside, I`m not sure about the right word for it, but it also is marked "emanel paint".

I have read your thread about your issues with shapeways, which is interesting. I have also seen the thread about HP Multi Fusion and standard nylon versus hd nylon in "Tools and procedures". Maybe I should post some pics there, too.
The diff guard was broken in one of the holes, another hole was opened and the overall feeling was grainy. I had printed another item in HD Nylon which turned out way better in form and finish. I have contacted shapeways about the issues. Their customer service was very fast and friendly, and they offered a reprint. We will see how this will turn out.

Are you actually insane? Like this is ridiculous. Incredible work!!
Yes, I am. Maybe. Thank you for the compliments :ror:
Will I get scale points for a "full brake interior"? :lmao:

Why not made most of it in brass for some down low weight.

But other than that super geil "thumbsup"

Ha, thank you! Yes, I would really love to have the drum made from brass. On the other hand, this return spring is made of solid steel and it is below the axle, so it WILL bring weight low down :lmao:

I wonder if a brake drum printed in the clear material would show off this incredible detail?

This is so cool! Bravo

The attention to detail and customization here is truly admirable.
Thank you, Sir!

Very nice work, Some simple details make all the difference.
Thank you, Sir! Yes, they do. "thumbsup"

Cool idea!! But I guess it isn`t really see-thru, even if the surfaces would be polished.

Super impressive attention to detail, brilliant execution. I will be over here in the corner...

:-D

Thats insane work. You must be madabout detailing.Thats an awesome job :)
Thank you, Sir! And yes, I am. Sometimes. Maybe kind of a work related disease :ror:
But it will probably decrease with the rest of the build

Man thats nice. Great job!!
Thank you, Sir!

Now this is paying attention to details! Very cool!
Thank you, glad you like it!

Thank you!

Thank you, Sir! By the way, I like your Charlie Brown themed VTH "thumbsup"

Yes and good [emoji362] or you can see it, when you get the drum brakes in service [emoji4][emoji106]
Yes, you are right! These bl**dy drum brakes need a lot of attention, especially when driven excessively in mud :lmao:

Wow, that's awesome detail, great job so far, loving all the tiny details! :)
Thank you for your kind words!

Little update, I put the axle under a chassis. As you can see the unmistakable rear crossmember, it is going to be a Land Rover:

Wow really impressive. I would not have the patience for that kind of detail.
Thank you. No patience involved. As soon as you start, one thing leads to another :lmao:

Thoroughly interested in watching where this build goes!
Great! So on to some updates!

I am a happy owner of a 3D printer now, so I can start printing my own designs at home now and don`t have to wait for delivery. Very time saving. "thumbsup"

Bad thing is - my 3D-printing-Kung-Fu is weak

Started with a spring perch:

And that is how it turned out. Tried different orientations, but either way didn`t work out:

As I am eager to make progress and as I am to impatient for improving my 3D skills first, I pulled the design joker. So I went back to CAD and redesigned the perch into a multi piece part. Each segment can now be printed in its best orientation:
