colorado springs weekly comps/trail runs?

Me and Mike are coming up with some ideas for spots from our past mountain escapades...these spots will require a little walking on trails to the get to the "fun" stuff. I'm gonna go look at some of the spots today and see what the snow coverage looks like. They will be awesome during the summer, but now might be a different story.

Tony, I went an looked at the drop pin and it's a No GO in my eyes...no real parking , no trail or trail head in sight...very close to a fenced off area with a big NO trespassing sign and it's black and toasted. It does look like a killer area tho especially before the fire. Go check it and let me know if you disagree.

The group has a vast range of vehicles that will never be completely pleased with Sunday runs, but we try to accommodate everyone with Crawlers or Scale rigs....TRY lol

Understood David. Thanks for checking it out. Been some years since a had been there. We need to step out of our comfort zone so we can find more places to crawl. So I'm up for something new. Maybe gold camp area???

Understood on the concerns guys. We try to mix it up as much as we can every week. We have run every open space inside the city and it's time we do a little more exploring on the edges of town to find good comp areas we won't get hassled by the man. This area I want to explore this weekend is not going to be like our plush parks in town that most of us are use too. These are all rocks with very little trail maintenance right at the edge of the burn area. We are going to be stepping out of our comfort zone at least once a month to go exploring. So this crawl is not meant to be a leisure hike but more of a Lewis and Clark expedition. Next week we will get back to park crawls until our next adventure. But this will help keep the more seasoned members interested in the extreme side as well. Trying to please everyone.

Doing a fine Job! I appreciate what you and the guys have been able to offer me and my family, let alone the group.

Again, I'm not complaining, just inquiring so I can make plans accordingly.

Jeremy and I just came back from one of the best scaler crawls I've been on ... it was at Lazyland; we started where we all always start and worked our way southward all the way to where you turn off the road to get there. The thing that made it so cool was we were looking for a snow run, I had the 2.2s on, and there was a perfect amount of snow down ... made for a lot of really cool lines.

Has anyone ever crawled the rockrimmon open space. I think I'm gonna load up my wraith and do some exploring for a new spot today. According to google satellite maps there's looks like a cool out cropping with a creek crawl. Anyone want to go exploring today for a new spot to crawl ??

I dont know how far every one is willing to drive but maybe sometime we could check out the independence trail system down by Penrose. Its made for 1:1 but judging from the pics it looks like it could be some fun. So brutal looking rocks. Not sure if it would be something we may wanna look at but just throwing that out there.

Turkey creek rec area would be a cool place to check out too off 115 to penrose. A lot of red rocks over there.
