Choosing a motor and ESC for your Wraith - Gearing Added!

Buffet I dont see y not. Its a good esc for those getn into it. So yeh I think it should be fine. Asile the scx10 axial runs a 27 t in it. But if u burn her up, id go a 35t somethn budget. Integy lathe motor or holmes or even venom 35t an rc4wd are good bang for ya buk.

rc is no hobby its a disease

How much runtime will a 3S 2500mah lipo give me (30% crawlin' and 70% haulin')?

My set up: BR-XL + Titan 21t
Maybe 25 minutes or so?

Just looking for your best guesstimate...

Thanks.

It's impossible to say really. Depends on how stressful each type of running gets. Crawling while bound up constantly will drain the pack quickly.

You could see anywhere from 15mins to the better parrot an hour depending on conditions.

I built my Wraith kit last week and went with a Castle MMP I had and a Novak Ballistic 17.5T sensored motor. After plenty of research I went with that motor as I wanted to have good speed and crawling ability. I plan to use the stock gearing unless someone recommends differently. Ive read 32p is better but would the stock gearing be okay with my setup? I have been suggested using 3S or 4S lipo. I have some 2S but plan to get new batteries for the Wraith. Would it perform well with 2S? Or should I get 3S or higher lipos?

I plan to get a bec later when I add a light kit and other things, just looking to get it running in the meantime.

Will the Trinity 1051 540 Monster Horsepower Brushless 13.5T (right turn or go higher???) Motor be a good choice? is it similar to the pro4 motor or the redline 13.5

Is seem that the 3300Kv motor on 3s is the ticket.
Then what would be the equivalent on 2s or the performance wont be the same.

Or using 3s is far superior?
For 2s i can see weight saving plus cheaper packs.

Thanks!

3s will provide more power, therefore you won't be able to match the performance with 2s. You might be able to match the top speed but it that is a small part of the overall performance.

thanks Harvey but I got a little confuse then there no way to almost equal the performance using a 2s setup using a different Kv rating motor.

You can't have the same power output without the same input power. Like I said you can match the speed but you will have reduced torque, and require more amp draw from the pack. People run 3s for the boost in power all around, not just speed.

thanks!
now I get it better.
hmm it seem that the brushless I found say max Volt 2s crap.

what are the comments on brushless motors with a kv range of 2600 - 2700 are this then the best of both worlds?

I am new and looking for electronics/motor for my wraith build. It looks like Holmes is out of stock on most motors. I am planning on using the wraith playing around while camping doing some crawling and general screwing around. I have the extra $$ at the moment so should I wait for Holmes to get the pro rock combo back in stock or should I look somewhere else? I really know nothing so any and all help is much appreciated. Thank you!

I picked up one of Holmes 2011 torquemaster pro 30 turn a couple weeks ago. I took out the Castle 3800 KV brushless. What a difference in crawling ability:)
Lost a little wheel speed, but I can get that back once I switch over to 3S.
I'm running a CC Sidewinder SCT ESC and CC BEC.

Holmes is running a special on these for $59.99 and they have all but the 21 turns and the 27 turns"thumbsup"

Also you suggest staying with 4:1 ratio for the stronger brushless setup with more torque, and mention 14/56 gearing, but will 13/52 fit without mod to motor plate?

I am only asking because I have that pinion and spur on hand already and dont want to leave the truck torn down if it doesnt fit.
